Week 5 - Performance Task 1

The document discusses screening business opportunities in a local community based on viability, profitability, and customer requirements. It provides examples of possible business opportunities identified from a picture of the local community, including automotive repairs, IT services, a salon/barbershop, grocery store, health clinic, and others. It also identifies the most creative, difficult, costly, and common opportunities. Based on observations of climatic conditions and available raw materials, the document determines that a health clinic would be the most appropriate business for the community, as it is related to the author's nursing field of study and will fill the need for local health services.

Screen the Proposed Solution Based on Viability, Profitability, and Customer Requirements

(First Quarter-Module 4 Part 1)

What I Can Do

A. Paste a picture in a bond paper that generally describes your local community. It may show a heap of
garbage, a dirty canal, a busy street, rice paddies, farm animals, farmers, employees, and buildings,
among others.

B. By your chosen strand/track, list down all the possible business opportunities that you can identify in
your community based on the picture that you had pasted. Write all the ideas that come into your head.
There are no right and wrong answers.

 Automotive repairs
 IT and computer services
 Salon or barbershop
 Grocery store
 Health clinic
 Drugstore
 Hardware store
 Tattoo and piercing shop
 Clothing boutique
 Bakery

C. From the different possible business opportunities that you have identified, pick out the

1. most creative 3. most costly, and

2. most difficult 4. most common

 Most Creative - Tattoo and piercing shop

 Most Difficult - IT and computer services
 Most Costly - Automotive repairs, Health clinic
 Most Common - Salon or barbershop, Grocery store, Bakery, Hardware store

D. Observe the climatic conditions in your local community for one week. Take note also of the raw
materials that are present in your locality. Based on your observations, determine the most appropriate
business venture to open in your community that is integrated in your chosen SHS strand or track.
Explain your answer.

 Health clinic as an SHS stem student planning to pursue a nursing degree in college, I believe
that a health clinic would be the most appropriate business endeavor to start in our community.
A health clinic is one of the small-town business ideas that will require the greatest capital and
specific resources — but if your tiny town lacks one, this could quickly become a profitable
business, particularly during cold and flu season. After all, everyone becomes sick at some point
and has to be able to get the proper diagnosis and medications. When you or a family member
is unwell, you won't want to go to a health care facility that is far away to receive treatment;
instead, you'll want to go to the location that is nearest to your home.
