Chapter I

The Problem

E-Learning is effective and powerful. It enhances the ability of the students to learn and

work on their own. The Audio-Visuals use in E-learning helps the students to remember

knowledge for a longer time. In the traditional way of learning, there’s a lot of troublesome that

disturbs the class. Whereas, E-Learning provides consistent delivery of lessons. It is a quick way

of learning. Lectures can be taken at anytime and anywhere. In traditional classes, revisions are

not that easy. In E-learning, you can revision it online and adjust the time where you look for a

specific lesson. E-learning benefits those who feel nervous and disconnected in groups and helps

students to learn without having to give up the comforts of the environment you are at ease with.

It is important to know the effectiveness of E-learning to the students because it serves as an

alternative way to impart education to the students.

1..1 Statement of the Problem

This study aims to determine the Effectiveness of E-Learning in the Grade 12 HUMSS A Senior

High School Students of Bicol Central Academy.

Specifically, this study sought to answer the following questions:

1. What are the benefits of E-learning to the Grade 12 HUMSS Students of Bicol central

academy in terms of:

a. Consistency

b. Reduce cost

c. Personal content

2. How effective is e-learning to the Grade 12 HUMSS students in times of new normal

education?
3. Is there any significant difference in the learning comprehension of the grade 12 HUMSS

students between E-learning and the traditional form of learning?

1.2 Significance of the study

The School, Bicol Central Academy uses E-learning to support students' education

despite the changes in the normal way of teaching. For some of the schools, this has been a small

move but for others, this is a completely new way of education. Most nations have already

initiated e-learning in their schools.

This study will benefit the students of Grade 12 HUMSS Senior High School Students of

Bicol Central Academy. With the use of E-learning, it provides the students lot of time and

consumes less of money. E-Learning uses gadgets like a cellphone, laptop or tablet. E-learning

provides the students the information they need in a very convenient way. Students can have the

access to re-watch the lesson anywhere and anytime. As it helps the student to quickly access

their lessons, this indicates that the time require to learn is reduce for what is require in

traditional learning. Unlike traditional learning, it consumes lot of training time while in E-

learning; it provides respect to trainers, cost for travel, course materials, and accommodation. It

also helps to enhance the ability of the students to learn and implement the new way of

education.

This study will contribute as a review related literature that will help other researchers

regarding this study. This study will serve as the basis of the effectiveness of E-learning to the

students of Bicol Central Academy.

1..3 Scope and Delimitation

This study is about the effectiveness of E-learning to the students of Bicol Central

Academy. This study will conduct among the Grade 12 HUMSS A Senior High School Students.

Grade 12 HUMSS students will serve as the respondent of this study. The respondents will serve
as the basis of what are the effectiveness of E-learning in terms of education due to pandemic

and as an alternative way for traditional learning.

The delimitation of the study delimits only with Grade 12 HUMSS students of Bicol

Central Academy. In this research, the research questions will delimit only to the benefits of E-

learning in terms of consistency, cost, and personal content. It also delimits to how effective is E-

learning to the Grade 12 HUMSS students and the significant difference between E-learning and

traditional learning in terms of learning comprehension of the students.

1.4 Definition of terms

HUMSS. Is one of the academic tracks of senior high school in the Philippines. Operationally,

HUMSS students are the respondents of this study.

E-Learning. Learning is conducted via electronic media, typically on the internet. Operationally,

E-Learning is one of the materials used as an alternative way to sustain education in Bicol

Central Academy.

Traditional Learning. Takes place in classroom settings. Operationally, Traditional Learning

will be a comparison between E-Learning.
