Billing System

About the Problem


The project “Billing system” is an application to automate the process of
ordering and billing of outlet stores. This application is designed considering
the chain of stores located in different cities. This application can also be used
to administrate its users and customers.
Main Objective
 Add and maintain records of available products.
 Add and maintain description of new products.
 Add and maintain new entered category of products.
 Provides economic/financial reports to the owner monthly or weekly and
yearly.
 Make an easy to use environment for users and customers.
 Add and maintain customer details.
 Provides a convenient solution of billing pattern.
Scope
The main intention of this project is to provide managing of huge data
efficiently in such a way that the database can be modified, the storing of data is
fast and data is maintained efficiently. the graphical user interface will provide
user to deal with the system very easily. Reports can be easily generated and
data can be shared in proposed system. It either does not require paper work or
very few paper works are required. All the data is feted into the computer
immediately and various bills and reports can be generated through computers.
Since all the data is kept in a database no data of the organization can be
destroyed. There will be no errors Computer operator control will be there no
errors. storing and retrieving of information is easy.
System Design
The design part of the billing system is divided into two sections which consist
of the hardware and the software part. Before the software the design part can
be developed, the hardware part is first completed to provide a platform for the
software to work. Before the software part we need to install some libraries for
effective working of the application. We install NumPy through Python.

Hardware Requirement
CPU configuration - AMD processors 4000+ series
RAM- 1 gb DDR2
Monitor -17” colour
Operating System -Windows XP with service pack 2
Software Requirement
 Web Technology: Asp.net (Microsoft visual studio 2005 framework 2.0)
 Development Tool: MS Visual Studio 2005
 Web browser: Internet Explorer service pack 1 6
 Languages Used: Python
 Others: Themes, CSS
Advantages
 This will help the store keeper in fast billing.
 Enables store keeper to maintain the database of all customers visited and
product purchased from store.
 Project will enable to see report regarding product and category.
 Easy to maintain in future prospect.

Disadvantages
 It may not be preferred by small retailers as it won`t be cost effective

Conclusion
Before the development of this project. The existing systems are not user
friendly. Managing of huge data effectively is not possible in the current system
which leads to difficulty in reports generating, inefficiency in proper customer
handling, mistakes in the bills. Therefore, the billing system will not only
reduce the paper work but also there will be an easy transfer and accessibility of
the data. It can be used in strategic competitive advantage and for managerial
level decision making.
