Week 3:

Dear Diary,
Monday first class we had double Art and we began by converting our photos into
photos with a grid, using this app. We then started to draw the grid into our
sketchbooks, exactly the same as the grid on our phones. It was very hard because
you had to get it the same size as the grid on our phones. The grid is to make
portraits easy to draw which is really going to help because then you can copy the
portrait square by square onto your page. It going well so far, until we get started
on the eyes. But I think it will look like me in the end.
After break we had Coding where we started to write up some Python. Yay! I was
so excited for this. We started by learning some basics and then we began writing
some code that we will normally use in Scratch. It was so fun and it wasn’t that
hard to do. He said next week we will write up some more code on the website we
are using and I am super eager to learn it all, because that’s what I love doing.
Next, we had Mathematics where we started to complete a new worksheet. It was
almost the same one as last week’s worksheet but we didn’t get to finish it and the
questions were harder. In Thursday Mathematics class, we unfortunately didn’t
finish the worksheet so we never got to reveal the long word, we might come back
to it though. Instead, we started to learn another topic related to indices which was
Logs. Our teacher had a way of remembering them because she associated Logs
with the character Logan from X-man. I think that was a brilliant and fun way to
remember something like Logs. Honestly, I think these were way easier to solve
then indices but they are very similar.
After lunch we had Siamsa where we continued with our unit’s worksheet. You
would think after doing them for so long that I would have gotten bored of them,
but surprising they are interesting to do, and also relaxing. Thursdays Siamsa we
didn’t get to continue our Riverdance documentary unfortunately but we did get to
do something just as fun. We as a class had to decorate the Irish notice board.
While three of my friends drew some fireworks representing the new year, me and
two others got to laminate some Irish new year’s resolutions. It was fun to do,
though the laminator was really slow. We then got to put up our pages on the
board. The notice board looked good so far, though it was half empty because the
other classes hadn’t put their stuff up yet.
Last class we had English where we still continued our movie, and it’s so good but
it getting really sad. Then in Thursdays English we finished the movie and it was
fantastic. I thought the actors that played the characters showed so much emotion
and just the whole storyline was inspiring. I know at the start of the movie, I wrote
that this wasn’t my type of film, but I think I have changed my mind now. I will
highly recommend this movie to everyone that I know.

Tuesday morning, we had computer studies where I completed my cert test and
just like I predicted... I passed! Yay! Then on Wednesday’s class I started
training/learning the material for spreadsheets. The training is fine up until you
have to do another diagnostic test. Although spreadsheets are a bit harder than
word documents so I will see how that goes.
Next, we left to school to go to Skiing! Yay. We took the same journey as we
always do every Tuesday. When we arrived, we again put on those extremely
heavy boots, I have to get used to putting them on. Next, we carried our skis over
to our assigned slope. This week we actually got to use the lift instead of hurting
our toes climbing up the slope. The only thing I don’t like about the lift is that it’s
like a treadmill, sort off, and this week the speed of the lift was a bit too fast so it
was hard hopping on it, but I got used to it in the end. Then we started to learn how
to do some turns which was the really difficult bit. The main thing about turning is
that you have to have control, which is hard. I wasn’t that bad; I did 2 turns overall
which was a start. Other people in my group did 4 turns which was amazing. I am
getting better every week though and hopefully we will move on to steeper and
higher slopes soon.
Wednesday morning, we had double home economics where we began our first-
class baking!!! I am excited for cooking food but also scared of how its going to
taste in the end. In this class we baked some brown oatmeal bread. We started off
by setting up our ingredients that we brought in and also getting all of our
equipment out. At each table there was two people, but unfortunately due to covid
only one person at each table can bake at a time. Meaning I watched/helped my
friend bake hers and then when she finished, I baked mine. In the end the bread
looked amazing but it didn’t taste that good unfortunately. Although it was really
fun baking the bread. I think the soda was a bit too much that’s why it didn’t taste
good. The only thing I didn’t like was that we had to wash our bowls, which to be
honest no one enjoys washing in general.
After break we had Religion where we began to watch this episode of some kind of
religious tv series about the four gospels. It wasn’t that interesting and I didn’t like
it at all. The storyline didn’t really make a lot of sense either so that was another
reason why its wasn’t entertaining to watch.

Thursday morning, we had French. The first thing we did was go over last week’s
topics before starting to revise weather. Weather isn’t a hard topic so it was easier
for me to remember. Then on Friday’s class we revised directions. Overall, this
was the hardest one to revise but it was still good to go over the material.
After break we had fencing where we first went on refreshing walk outside. When
we came back, I was a bit disappointed when we didn’t get out the swords Even
though last week, he said that this week we will be using them, but that’s fine
because now we get to improve on our walking skills and how to position our feet.
It getting easier week by week, but it’s kind of boring walking without a sword in
your hand so I hope next week we will get the swords out and start learning with
them.
After lunch we had self-defense where we continued learning how to punch
someone when you get attacked. Lats week we where only punching with our
palms but this week we moved on to learning how to punch using our palms and
our elbows. It getting harder as we move onto more serious topics but it’s still a
very good skill to have in our lives.
Friday morning, first class, we had Frist aid. In this week’s class we moved on to
learn about Asthma and how to help someone that is having an asthma attack. We
learned about the different types of medication used such as an inhaler. Our teacher
said that next week we will be moving on to seizures and epilepsy and I am
looking forward to learn about that.

Afterwards we had career guidance where we did a series of small mini test that
was supposed to guide/help you in deciding what leaving cert subjects to take.
They where easier and the results were pretty good. It did give me a small push
into seeing what I am capable of and what not. But overall, I didn’t enjoy doing
them because it was a very unexpected test, meaning there was no studying
required, also meaning I wasn’t that prepared but hats ok because I did well.
After break we had double enterprise where we were supposed to begin writing our
surveys but our group changed our product idea. We thought deeper about the
necklace and we discovered that it would be too expensive to actually make them,
meaning we wouldn’t get any profit out of them. So, in the end we decided to go
with our first idea, the Hemp plastic bottles that we are going to sell to brands like
Coke for example, then that brand will use our bottles instead of normal plastic
bottles and this will commit to a better environment. We sent out the survey and
we will review the results next week. I hope people like our idea.
After lunch we had choir where we continued reading, and I am still not
complaining about that. But this time she let us sit by the warm radiators so I
wasn’t cold. The bad news is that I am almost finished my book but the good news
is I can move onto to a different more exciting read.

Write next week!
