1.0 SCOPE
The scope of this method statement covers installation of Capacitor banks (2L-ZC302A/B)

To provide/ prepare the equipment, hand tools and personnel for the installation
this method statement and other SABIC reference standards and/or drawings.
The QA/QC Inspector is also responsible for in-process and final inspection and

5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1.1 Read and review contract specifications, refer to SABIC standard and
conditions.
5.1.2 Develop construction execution plan and carry out technical clarification
5.1.3 The critical construction equipment and tools, test and inspection instrument
installation work.
Site Survey.
5.1.4 Prior to any kind of installation thorough site surveillance should be carried
out in order to make sure that the foundation/ floor is ready for the Capacitor
Banks installation.
Transportation.
5.1.5 Generally individual panels are transported on trailers. Each panel is fitted
with four lifting eye bolts for loading and unloading. All precaution should be
taken to protect both personnel and material. The vehicle which is carrying
the material should be guided to the right location with the help of the flag
man.
5.2.1 Before Taking the Capacitor banks to the installation location, it should be
make sure that the entire cable opening should have been created well in
advance.
5.2.2 Once the Capacitor Banks had arrived at the site, it should be offloaded
platform. Each Cabinet should be unpacked before taking the panel cabinet
5.2.3 The Cabinet sections should be taken into the substation individually and
with the help of manpower power and hydraulic trolley. Rollers could be
5.2.5 W hile taking the individual sections of the Capacitor Banks inside the
substation care must be taken not to hit the existing installations inside the
substation.
5.2.6 The area should be cleaned in order to install the Capacitor Banks.
5.2.7 Mark all the units as per the general arrangement drawings as shown
below.
5.2.9 Level the floor both longitudinally and transversally ,unevenness tolerance
5.2.11 Level the units and then bolt them together in front and rear part as shown
below.
5.2.13 If the bus bars are supplied separately same should be installed as per the
vendor recommendation.
5.2.14 For installation of the bus bar the risers should be cleaned with a soft dry
cloth.
5.2.15 The connection should be carried out by using vendor recommended M10
nut bolts. All the hardware should be proper installed like nuts bolts
washers etc.
5.2.16 The panels should be arranged as per the general layout drawings.
5.2.17 Vertical alignment should be carried out deviation of the panels edges from

5.2.20 Nuts and bolts should be torqued by using calibrated torque wrench. The

5.2.21 Once the material arrives at the site/ W arehouse it should be inspected,

Only authorized permit receiver shall receive the work permit & all time present on job site.
SAFCO work permits procedure shall be followed.
Tool Box Talk shall be conducted by site supervisor with support of area FSR/safety Supervisor

Only trained Personnel & skilled workers shall do the job.
Ensure all equipment Inspected by authorized person and having valid Sticker with internal
inspection by equipment inspector.
All heavy equipment safety devices shall be in good working condition i.e. reverse alarm, warning
beacon light etc.
Obtain vehicle entry certificate & follow approved route map.
Flagman shall be available to escort the vehicle and control all he vehicle movement at job site.
Ensure that the workers be aware about proper manual handling techniques.
Keep the load close to your body.
Never bend at the waist bend the knees.
Grip the load with both hands.
Avoid lifting more than 23 kg/persons
Check portable electrical equipment i.e., drill/generator and its cable switches are inspected and in
good condition and have valid inspection sticker with monthly color code.
All equipment shall be in good condition and having valid third‐party Certificate and SAFCO
inspection certificate with internal inspection by equipment inspector.
Defective tools shall be identified with Dont use tag and removed from site immediately

Keep safe distance while traveling from other m oving and fixed object.
The m axim um perm itted speed lim it within SAFCO prem ises shall not be exceeding 25 Km /hr.

The m ovem ent path of the vehicle shall be kept clear。 Pedestrian shall not be allowed in the of
the trailer.
Trailer shall not be parked in a m anner that it’s causing blockage of em ergency access or exits.
Verify ground condition (loose soil) prior to m obile crane.
Unloading shall be carried out under supervision of supervisor to ensure safe work practices are
followed. Competent person shall be assigned for unloading of transformer
Safe access shall be provided for rigger to access the load
Rigger must use gloves while slinging the load to avoid hand injuries
Softener shall be provided in a case of sharp edges to prevent damage to sling
Operator and rigger shall be 3rd party certified , trained as per the project safety procedure
The equipment to be used shall be 3rd party certified and inspected as per the project safety
requirements by having valid inspection sticker. The equipment shall be inspected by
driver/operator prior to start of the activity by having daily inspection checklist.
Lifting radius shall be barricaded and unauthorized entry shall be prohibited.
Safe clearance distance shall be maintained from existing facility of the plant. Rigger shall give
clear signal keeping eyes on the entire hazard in lifting zone.
Load shall be properly slanged/tied to prevent falling.
Unauthorized personnel shall not be allowed nearby the crane or in the lifting radius.
No lifting operation allowed if the wind speed will be more than 32km/h
Use the tag lines to control load and riggers should stay in the safe work zone.
In case of heavy wind/rain all lifting activities shall stop.
Pre‐lift toolbox talks by Worksite Supervisor are mandatory.
