1. SCOPE

This specification is for Stainless Steel Pipe and Fittings as used on aviation fuel
pipework systems.

The pipe and fittings specified are suitable for a maximum non-shock working pressure
of 18.3 barg at a maximum operating temperature of 50ºC (ref BS 1560 Part 2). The
ANSI B16.5 pressure temperature rating of increases from 15.3 to 18.4 barg at 50ºC
depending on whether the Low Carbon 316L material or standard 316 material is used.

Stainless Steel pipework will normally be specified for clean-duty small-bore pipework
(typically sized 1.5" and below) e.g. sample systems and low-point drains on hydrant
risers.

Stainless Steel pipe and fittings shall be supplied and installed uncoated/unpainted and
unlined.

All Stainless Steel Pipe and Fittings shall comply with the relevant National Standards
and this specification. In the event of any conflict of information, clarification shall be
obtained in writing from the purchaser.

Threaded pipe or fittings, where requested, are to have tapered threads in accordance
with API 5L.
