Oscm Assignment

The company should adopt a dual inventory strategy that focuses on efficiency for the abundant basic raw material while prioritizing responsiveness for the seasonal minor ingredients. Maintaining low inventory levels of the basic material through just-in-time delivery allows for efficiency. However, the seasonal ingredients require building up buffer stock in advance to ensure responsiveness to demand despite their limited availability. This balanced approach maximizes both efficiency and responsiveness given the differing supply characteristics of the raw materials.

1(a).

Filling petrol or diesel in our vehicles is a very common activity that we all do
regularly. With the information available openly, can you identify the supply chain for the
petroleum products?

supply chain manages the activities, from oil productions from market demand, and
intakes oil transportation, operation, final products storage, and final product shipping to
distribution branches.

1(b)The definition of supply chain contains a very important word “information”. In your
opinion, what information is being referred?

Information is a key supply chain because it acts as the glue that allows the other supply
chain drivers to work together to invent an integrated, coordinated supply chain.
Information is crucial to supply chain performance because it provides the processes
where execution transactions and managers make decisions. Without information, a
manager cannot know what customers want, how many inventory is in stock, and when
more products should be produced ,operated or shipped.

1(c). A company is into manufacturing an antibiotic product. This is for veterinarian

purposes. During floods when animals such as cows, buffalos, or other bovine species
have digestive disorders, this medicine is very effective. If you were to give a thought to
have a supply chain designed for this company, what will be your choice-
responsiveness or efficiency. Ideally, how will you balance these both?

Antibiotic use a major role in the emerging public health crisis. Although the majority of
antibiotic use occurs in agricultural settings, comparatively little attention has been paid
to how antibiotic use in farm animals contributes to the all problem of antibiotic . The aim
of this is to summarize overall on the role of antibiotics in the development and its risk
too in human health. There are multiple databases to identify the argument supporting
the role of agricultural antibiotic use in the development of existing and policy
documents. There are several lines of reasoning support the conclusion that agricultural
antibiotics are associated and yet most public policy is based on expert opinion . Finally,
we made strategies to address the current gaps in knowledge.

International, national, and local antibiotic campaigns have been developed to encourage
the use of limit unnecessary exposure to antibiotics, with the goal of preserving their
effectiveness for serious and life-threatening infections. In practice, however,it must be
balance the utilitarian goal of preserving the effectiveness of antibiotics with ethical
obligations to patients who present with conditions that are to be harmed and may
benefit from antibiotic use. There are also considerable debate in veterinary medicine
regarding use of antibiotics in animals raised for human. (food animals).

1(d). Consider the situation of a pharmaceutical manufacturer. The basic raw material is
abundantly available and that comprises almost 75% of the total cost of the finished
product. However, they also require some other ingredients that are not very expensive
and also are required in small quantities but are available only seasonally. What type of
inventory strategy you would suggest to this company and why?
