FOREWORD
The American National Standards Committee B1û7, Socket Wrenches and Drives, under sponsorship by
the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, held its organizational meeting on June 28,1967. Subcom-.
mittees were subsequently organized to handle the expanded need of both inch and metric series American
National Standards Institute standards dealing with wrenches, handles and attachments. This standard is
one of a series of such standards.
Members of the Hand Tools Institute have been major contributors to thedevelopment of these standards
in their committee work, their knowledge af the products and their active efforts in the promotion of adop-
tion of the Standards.
This standard was submitted to the industry for review and comment. Following the approval by the
Standards Committee B107 and the sponsor, i t was approved by the American National Standards Institute
on.November 8,1978, and designated ANSI B107.3-1978.
