1. How does baptism bring us new life in Christ? (15 pts)
Baptism is a sacrament that marks one's acceptance into the Christian faith. Although the rites and ceremonies of the various Christian churches differ, baptism almost always involves the use of water and the recitation of the Trinitarian invocation, "I baptize you: in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Spirit." Depending on the situation, the applicant may be entirely or partially wholly underwater. The water may be poured over their head, or a few drops of water may be showered or placed on the candidate's head. Baptism serves to remind us that even if we are messy, God cleanses us. Even though we are dead in our sins, God brings us back to life in Christ Jesus. Although we are thirsty and dehydrated, he replenishes us with the living water of his Holy Spirit. As we welcome the world or become humans, we have immediately Sinned, the original sinned. So, we need to be baptized to wash our original sin and have eternal life.
2. How is confirmation related to Christ and the Church? (15 pts)
When we do the baptism, we do it in Church. Since Confirmation is after
baptism, we also do to the Church and strengthen our bond. Confirmation is a sacrament that gives Holy Spirit to root us more deeply in divine filiation, incorporate us nor firmly into Christ. Also, confirmation completes baptismal Grace. Confirmation is the acceptance of baptized people in the Church. Jesus Christ calls us to be missionary witnesses in our families, communities, and even the world through our baptism. Confirmation helps us to fulfill this call. Our relationship with Christ is deepened and strengthened through the Sacrament of Confirmation. Christ's request for the Holy Spirit is central to our understanding of the Christian faith, which we receive in greater depth and intensity because of Christ's need for it. 1. Why do we need to value the Eucharist as a student, person, and a Christian?
The Holy Eucharist is the most historic and unique experience of Christian worship, as well as the most important. The term "eucharist" comes from the Greek word for "thanksgiving." When it comes to the attitude of the Church toward all of life, this term describes the most significant aspect. In the Last Supper, Christ instructed His disciples to offer bread and wine in His memory. This is the origin of the Eucharist. Due to its commemoration and celebration of Christ's Life, Death, and Resurrection, the Eucharist is the most distinguishing event in Orthodox worship. As Christians, we place a high value on communion because it serves as a reminder of the sacrifice that Jesus made for our sins. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only born Son, that whoever believeth in Him may not perish, but shall have everlasting life." John 3:16 Because He died for my sins, I am unable to avoid honoring Him, and so I partake in communion, which I do cheerfully. Only those who have been rescued by the blood of Christ will enter the kingdom of heaven; no matter how good you believe you are, you will never be good enough to enter the kingdom of heaven on your own merits; you must be saved by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
