Learning Activity

A. Considering your answer in learning activity in lesson 1, (Write 2 examples of student learning
outcomes derived from each of the following sources), try to distinguish what domain is being
highlighted from the given student learning outcomes. Fill in the template (table) that is
presented below.

SOURCE Student Learning Outcomes Domain

CHED 1. Students are expected Cognitive
to conduct
communication
research, monitoring
and evaluation.
2. Students are expected Cognitive
to communicate in
different formats and
platform.
DepEd 1. At the end of the Psychomotor
lesson, students will
create a trailer from the
latest movie of 2021
which is the Squid
Game.
2. Student are expected to Psychomotor
expected to participate
in the class discussion
and present his/her
ideas.
Gen. Ed Competencies 1. Students are expected Cognitive
to compose effective
written materials for
various academic and
professional contexts.
2. At the end of the Cognitive
lesson, students are
expected to judge and
to understand ethical
behaviors in social
applications.
Answer the following questions and give what is asked in the following statements.

1. What is learning objective and give how to write correct learning objectives?
 A learning objective describes what learners should know or be able to do at the end of
the course that they couldn’t do before. It is essential for effective learning wherein it
describe what students will be expected to learn by the end of the lesson, course, or
class period. When learning objectives are absent or unclear, students may not know
what’s expected of them, which may then lead to confusion that could impede the
learning process.
 To write learning objective:

Step 1. Learning objectives begin with the phrase:

“At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to…”

Step 2. Connect step one with an action verb which communicates the performance by the
learner. Use verbs which describe an action that can be observed and that are measurable
within the teaching time frame (e.g., via a post-test).

Step 3. Conclude with the specifics of what the learner will be doing when demonstrating
achievement or mastery of the objectives. Stress what the participant will walk away from
the activity with.

2. Why do you think the three classification of learning outcomes must be given emphasis in
learning assessment course?
 Learning outcomes must be given emphasis in learning assessment course because it is
the indicator of success of an academic course. It should be listed in learning assessment
to know and to check whether the course is designed and conducted perfectly. Learning
activity, teaching context and assessment scheme have to be properly designed to
successfully conduct and completely done. It also help both teachers and student to
have common understanding regarding the purpose of the course. By providing clear
learning outcomes, teachers begin to provide a pathway for student success because
learning outcomes provide instructions to students on what they are expected to do.

3. Give at least three examples of student learning outcomes in the cognitive, psychomotor and
affective domains.
 Cognitive Domain
1. By the end of the BIS program, students will be able to apply basic Web
development skills.
2. By the end of the of special education program, students will be able to
diagnose learning disabilities.
 Affective Domain
1. Students are expected to have a debate numerous sides to an arguments at the
end of the political science program.
2. Student are expected to respond thoughtfully when someone ask you a
question.
 Psychomotor Domain
1. By the end of the lesson, students are expected to solve a mathematical
equation as demonstrated.
2. By the end of the of the dance program, students will be able to create a
dance step.

Pre-Activity:

A. Recall how your teachers assess their students if they have understood the lesson and do the
following:

 Give five different forms of assessment made by your teacher just to test how well you have
understood the lesson.
 Make a short description on how the given assessment were performed or done. Fill in the
table below

FORM OF ASSESSMENT DESCRIPTION

Formative assessment Formative assessments help you track how student knowledge is
growing and changing in your classroom in real-time.
Summative assessment It measure student progress as an assessment of learning. It is used
to evaluate student learning, skill acquisition, and academic
achievement at the conclusion of a defined instructional period—
typically at the end of a project, unit, course, semester, program,
or school year.
Diagnostic assessment When you structure diagnostic assessments around your lesson,
you’ll get the information you need to understand student
knowledge and engage your whole classroom. Form of pre-
assessment that allows a teacher to determine students’ individual
strengths, weaknesses, knowledge, and skills prior to instruction. It
is primarily used to diagnose student difficulties and to guide
lesson and curriculum planning.
Norm-reference assessment A tests designed to compare an individual to a group of their peers,
usually based on national standards and occasionally adjusted for
age, ethnicity or other demographics. An assessment that ranks
students on a “bell curve” to determine the highest and lowest
performing students.
Criterion-reference assessment It compare the score of an individual student to a learning
standard and performance level, independent of other students
around them.
B.

1. Among the assessments that you have written and described, which do you think is/are the most
important?

 I think the most important is the diagnostic assessment wherein teacher can be able to
determine the student’s knowledge, skills, strength and weaknesses. like when a teacher knows
exactly what students know or don’t know about a topic, she can focus lessons on the topics
students still need to learn about rather than what they already know. Wherein teachers
provide them knowledge and diagnose their capabilities.

2. If you are trying to make an assessment to your students, what do you prefer? Why?

 If I would make an assessment to my students I prefer to make a formative assessment because

it provides information to students and teachers that is used to improve teaching and learning.
The goal of formative assessment is to monitor student learning to provide ongoing feedback
that can be used by instructors to improve their teaching and by students to improve their
learning wherein both teachers and learners receive positive feedback from each other.

3. If you are going to classify these assessments, what kind of assessment you are referring to?

 I am referring to assessment for learning because it is a ongoing assessment that allows teachers
to monitor students on a day-to-day basis and modify their teaching based on what the students
need to be successful. This assessment provides students with the timely, specific feedback that
they need to make adjustments to their and also always focus on the students.

4. Can you give at least two salient points why should this assessment be used?

 Formative assessment is used when students are learning, it should be used all the time for the
enhancement of student learning because its main goal is to improve and develop every
learners. That’s why grades and point are not important in formative assessment. And that’s
why also I prefer formative if I’m going to make one assessment.
 Formative assessment is a continuous assessment process in school which shows the day to day
effects of teaching- learning. Feedback mechanism plays vital role in development of child
because in formative assessment it gives feedback from the both teacher and students to share
and gain knowledge.

Learning Activities:

A. Determine whether each of the following assessment activities/ strategies is traditional or authentic:

Authentic 1. Drawing the parts of the microscope

Traditional 2. Writing the multiplication tables 8, 9, 10

Authentic 3. Submitting report on observations about butterflies in a field trip

Authentic 4. Interview the barangay chairman about the problems of the community and reporting on
the findings

Traditional 5. Providing answers to an enumeration assignment

B. Which do you think is better, authentic assessment of traditional assessment. Why? Justify your
answer.

 I think authentic assessment is better that traditional, why? It is because Authentic assessments
have several advantages over traditional. They are likely to be more valid than traditional tests,
particularly for learning outcomes that require higher-order thinking skills. Because they involve
real-world tasks, they are also likely to be more interesting for students, and thus more
motivating. And finally, they can provide more specific and usable information about what
students have succeeded in learning as well as what they have not learned.

C. If you would become a teacher, what form of assessment are you going to use?

 If I would become a teacher, the form of assessment I am going to use is authentic. Authentic
assessment may be a better alternative to traditional tests. There are several benefits and
reasons to use authentic assessment. It’s best to implement when we want to measure
understanding on the topic, when there is various ways to demonstrate understanding, when
we want to see learning in action and to integrate teaching, assessment and learning all
together. Authentic assessments help students analyze what they’ve learned and apply it their
own experience. It is more reliable and more beneficial for student learning. In this modern
world we should uplift everyone, we must train how to be authentic, to go along with the
society, to face the reality wherein everything is changing.
