2 Company Overview
Swiggy is among the fastest growing start-ups in the food and beverages industry in
India[ CITATION Ani18 \l 16393 ]. The company head quartered in Bangalore, India is into
delivering food and beverages from restaurants to end consumers for enhanced customer
experience. Swiggy has provided the customers with an online platform from which they can
order food from their favourite restaurant at their locations [CITATION Man18 \l 16393 ]. At
present, Swiggy is operating in over 28 cities of India. Swiggy has its operations using the
website and mobile application. Users can easily access the menu for alliance restaurants using
desktop and mobile application[CITATION Anu17 \l 16393 ]. Once the order is placed the
delivery person of Swiggy ensures the delivery of food to the customer so that comfort in food
orders can be promoted. Different payment modes are being adopted by the organization such
as cash on delivery, net banking, debit cards and payment wallets such as Paytm, Mobikwick
etc. The process of Swiggy consist of three major stages which are order process, delivery of the
order and then consumption of the food which is being delivered.

In initial years of business, the supply chain of Swiggy was framed with consideration of
supply chain process that assists in accomplishing goals and objectives. By having an improved
consideration of the supply chain management process, the business is improving its supply
chain on a regular basis. The supply chain of Swiggy covers five key factors such as plan, source,
execute, deliver and return. It means the simple supply chain process is being followed by the
company in order to meet the expectations of customers[ CITATION Tar18 \l 16393 ]. In the first
stage of Swiggy’s supply chain management process, the customer is required to select food
from his/her favorite restaurants which have been registered on Swiggy. In the second stage,
the customers are required to place the order for the food and confirmation is provided to the
customers and restaurant regarding the same. Food is being cooked under this process and the
delivery boy picks up the order to deliver it to the customer. Once the delivery accomplished,
the successful order notification has been generated.
The mentioned above figure outlines that the supply chain management process of
Swiggy primarily consists of five major stages which are planning, sourcing, execution, delivery
and return.
In supply chain process the company is focusing more on technological developments so
that an integrated supply chain process can be developed. It is also a reason that the company
has changed various features in its application so that better support can be offered to
customers and restaurant partners. Swiggy is required to carry out continuous improvement in
its supply chain management process so that fast, effective and accurate services and products
can be delivered to the customers[ CITATION Sin17 \l 16393 ]. The strategy of continuous
improvements is also contributing a lot in the overall success and growth of the brand.
4 Recommendation
It has been identified that Swiggy has carried out reorganization of its supply chain
management to improve the same and attain high degree of satisfaction of customers and
restaurant owners. However, it can be argued that still there are certain things which Swiggy can
improve to enhance the effectiveness of its supply chain. The recommendations for
improvement are mentioned below as:
• Swiggy must introduce its re-time inventory management system in order to monitor its
supply chain. It will allow improving the standards and enhancing the sustainability of supply
chain.
• Monitoring of vendor performance can also be considered so that issues in terms of
supply chain can be identified.
• Data insight application is also beneficial for Swiggy because it will make understand
about the delivery time of order.
5 Conclusion
As per the above study, it can be concluded that the supply chain process of Swiggy has
been reorganized that helps the business firm to attain various benefits. Considering key
measures of supply chain process and technological development the company continuously
has been improving. It also assists in attaining better customer satisfaction and leads to business
success.
