Expert Answer:
In general, right-hand thumb rule is used to find the direction of electric current flowing
through a conductor.
Fleming left-hand rule is used to find the direction of motion or force experienced by a
conductor placed in a magnetic field.
Fleming right-hand rule is used to find the direction of electric current generated in a
conductor when the conductor is moved inside a magnetic field
Expert Answer:
Fleming's right-hand rule is used for generators.
while fleming's left-hand rule is used for motors
In a generator, electricity is produced due to mechanical energy provided externally
In motor electricity is supplied to produce mechanical energy or motion.
Generally radios and television do not have motors in them.
Stereo sets have motors in them which are dc motors.

Expert Answer:
Use the flemings left hand rule as shown in figure. Strectch central finger, fore finger and thumb of your
left hand in mutually perpendicular direction as shown in figure. Let central finger point the direction of
current, fore finger point the magnetic field direction. Then direction of thumb is same as the direction of
force.
Expert Answer:
If direction of current and that of magnetic field are perpendicular to each other, then the
force is perpendicular to both of them.
The three directions can be illustrated through Fleming's left hand rule.
Stretch the thumb, forefinger and middle finger of left hand such that they are mutually
perpendicular as shown in figure.
If the first finger points in the direction of magnetic field and second finger in the
direction of current,
then thumb will point in the direction of force acting on the conductor.

Flemings Left Hand Rule
It is found that whenever a current carrying conductor is placed inside a magnetic field,
a force acts on the conductor, in a direction perpendicular to both the directions of the
current and the magnetic field. To know the direction of force related to direction of
current and direction of magnetic field, we use Flemings Left Hand rule as shown in left
side figure below
Hold out your left hand with the forefinger, second finger and thumb at the right angle to
one another. If the forefinger represents the direction of the field and the second finger
represents that of the current, then thumb gives the direction of the force.
In the right side figure, a portion of a conductor of length ‘L’ is placed vertically in a
uniform horizontal magnetic field of strength ‘H’, produced by two magnetic poles N and
S. If the current ‘I’ is flowing through this conductor, the magnitude of the force acting on
the conductor is F = B×I×L . The direction of current , magnetic field and force is
according to flemings left hand rule.
Expert Answer:
Mmagnetic force will act along west direction on the proton. This can be
found using flemings left hand rule. Current(movement of proton) is along
south direction and magnetic field is along upward so the force is along west
direction.

Answer:
Fleming's left hand rule is applied when we get mechanical force on a conductor when
electrical current is passing through conductor
due to interaction of electric current with magnetic field .
By applying this rule, we get the direction of motion of conductor by knowing the
direction of current and direction of magnetic field.
According to this rule, stretch the thumb, forefinger and middle finger of your left
hand such that they are mutually perpendicular
If the first finger points in the direction of magnetic field and the second finger in the
direction of current, then the thumb will point
in the direction of motion or the force acting on the conductor.
Fleming's Right hand rule is applied when we get induced current using movement of
conductor in magnetic field
This rule states that if we stretch the thumb, forefinger and middle finger of right hand so
that they are perpendicular to each other
such that If the forefinger indicates the direction of the magnetic field and the thumb
shows the direction of motion of conductor,
then the middle finger will show the direction of induced current.
Why we need right hand thumb rule? Answer to this question is when consuctor is
moved in magnetic field, we get induced current.
Where as to get mechanical force we use current from electrical power supply or from
EMF of battery.
In any device, applied current and induced current are opposite in direction . Hence for
applied current we use left-hand rule and
for induced current we use right hand rule.
