Enablers of passion are the factors that drive a person to be passionate in his/her
field of endeavor that results to a better outcome or achievement. Being an educator,
what enables me to be a passionate teacher are my family, my students, and the recognition I am receiving out of my commitment and dedication in my profession. My family motivates and inspires me to be dedicated and committed in education. Ever since I was a student, my family support me in all my endeavors. It has been one of my sources of strength especially during times of troubles. And now that I have achieved my dream to become a teacher, my family keep on challenging me to achieve my goals. My parents are always telling me to love my work and my students in order to be a successful teacher. Their guidance and advises are very important in the exercise of my profession. Charity begins at home, indeed I learned this from my family. They taught me how to care for my students. To have compassion especially to those students who lacked knowledge and skills. To have patience to misbehavior of students and provide opportunities for them to learn and correct their mistakes. To develop a culture of respect amongst students and build a better relationship with each other. So many to mention other good things which my family have taught me, and now as a teacher applying these things in teaching my students. Next to my family, also my enablers of passion are my students. My responsibility to teach them enables me to develop a profound love for knowledge for them to achieve a high quality of learning. They are the reason why I always search for continuous professional development to be an effective and efficient teacher. Every time I see a student overwhelmed because of what he/she had learned, I am inspired. Whenever my students say thank you after teaching them our lesson each day, I am happy because they are happy. I feel that I am fulfilling my role of promoting students’ intellectual and moral development. So, I keep on improving myself by means of attending trainings and seminars, crafting a meaningful lesson plan and instructional materials, collaborating with my peers to learn new techniques and strategies in teaching, and assessing my daily performance to strengthen my weaknesses in teaching. I must do all things well and always strive for excellence to be a great teacher to my students. Lastly, I consider recognition as one my enablers of passion. Although it seems awkward to seek for rewards and praises, we could not deny the fact that a person gets inspired to be better each day whenever he/she is being recognized for his/her contributions no matter how big or small it may be. It boosts our morale to achieve more and thereby we grow professionally. In my case, I was inspired to achieve more when I was promoted in my position as a teacher. And to be promoted, you must grow professionally through continuous studies, attending seminars and trainings, doing research work, developing innovations such as instructional materials, conducting community services, serving as a mentor or coach in academic and athletic competitions and so much more to mention. This is very rewarding in my part. But above all, there is nothing more rewarding than knowing and seeing that as a teacher you have made an impact on others’ lives. Be proud you are a teacher, the world needs you!
