◎ Main Engine

Make: HYUNDAI - MAN B&W. Type: 6G60ME-C9.5


M.E. is new when it comes to design. It is mainly controlled by electro hydraulic
system and the adjustment to be done on Main Operating Panel “MOP” M.E.
normal service RPM at NAV.FULL is at 70 RPM.

M/E performance is taken by CoCoS- EDS system in P.M.I. monitor.


For taking performance:
(Measurements – manual input – non filtered values – edit page with new data)
For saving performance as PDF file: Print-adobe pdf – save.
For reference earlier taken performances are kept in performance folder.
Monthly cleaning & inspection of scavenge manifold & under piston spaces is
carried out & condition recorded in monthly scavenge space report.

 ME PMI calibration to be carried out every 3 months.


 Scavenge manifold and under piston area to be cleaned every month & Cleaning allowance to be
added to the monthly portage bill of 1 oiler and 2 WIPER.
 Piston, piston ring and liner inspection to be carried out every month and report to be send with
photographs in monthly paper works.
 ME performance to be recorded every month and send to office in monthly paper works.
 In my tenure ME UNIT 3,2, and 4 decarb done by ship staff and 1 and 5 done by dry dock and
new piston ring installed, stuffing box all cleaned.
 ME exhaust valve number 1,2,4 and 6 new spare exhaust valve installed by ship staff and 3rd unit
done by dry dock and removed exhaust valve overhauled but sealing area (seat, spindle) have
pitting, need to be recondition.

Major spares:
3 No’s spare Exhaust Valve overhauling completed but seat and spindle have pitting need to
repair but overhauled with new seal rings and o rings , one exhaust valve seat got cut and spindle sealing
area also.One new set of seat and spindle in ER store supplied in dry dock.
18 No’s fuel valve complete. 10 sets reconditioned, spare 24 nozzle and other injectors spares
received in dry dock .
Fuel valve nozzle 24 have in spares.
2 No’s Fuel pumps, ready for spare.
1 Cylinder head ready with exhaust valve and fuel valve.

 Every Wednesday and Sunday ME L.O cylinder oil sample is to be collected, and Iron test and BN
Test is to be carried out and reported on weekly report every Friday.

 LT COOLER #1 CLEANED AND NEW GASKET INSTALLED (LT COOLER 2 CLEANED BY SHIP STAFF

ME STARTING PROCEDURE
Since it is ME engine so the starting procedure is same slightly different from SMC engine. Turn Main
Engine on turning gear and press cylinder lubrication option in MOP (Main Operating Panel) few times. If
Main Engine has been remaining idle for long time (2 or more days) chose SLOW TURN for blowing
through and then AIR RUN. We blow through ME twice. In normal condition we blow through directly in
AIR RUN. Open indicator cock, select SLOW TURN option and then move the telegraph lever to DEAD
SLOW and back to STOP. Similarly, for second time blow through select AIR RUN and then move the
telegraph lever to DEAD SLOW and back to STOP.
Close indicator cock and transfer control to bridge.

◎ Aux. Engine
Make: Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd;
Model: HYUNDAI – HIMSEN; Type: 5H21/32

No.1 AE general overhauled MARCH 2022


Auxiliary engines are in good running condition. Running Hours are monitored.
It is having consumable filters for lubricating oil. Regular monitoring and cleaning
of centrifuge filter, air filter on turbo charger are carried out. Turbo charger
cleaning also carried out at regular interval both compressor side and turbine
side. All other maintenance as per schedule running hours are to be carried out.
Engine performance data are to be taken every month.
All Alarms, trips and shutdown tried out and working satisfactory.

Lube Oil sample will be send to LAB. every 3 months for analysis.

 All AE sump oil renewed when R/H 2000. Pls. check A/E RH.
 AE 1,2 & 3 turbine wash and turbo charger washing carried out as per
instruction manual.
 AE performance taken every month (75 % to 80 %) Load.
 AE alarms and trips tried out on regular basis.
 AE no 2 and 3 fuel pump overhauled with new plunger barrels.

 AE 2 sump oil renewed after 2000 hrs.
AE maintenance schedule carried out by 3rd engineer, all jobs carried out as per
PMS and R/H.

◎ Cargo Monitoring System


Cargo monitoring system monitor in CCR is working satisfactory.

◎ Ballast Water Treatment System


This vessel is provided with Ballast Water Treatment System. It is in good working condition. Every month
test run is carried out parameters recorded and photographs taken. Monthly record of BWTS is send to
the office. It is fully automatic. Starting and stopping procedures are displayed near the equipment in CCR
as well as in BWTS room.

- All the auto/manual, start/stop procedure for ballasting and DE ballasting mode are printed and kept
ready in CCR near BWTS HMI panel. BWTS plant is running good condition.
3 No. generators required for starting 2 ballast pumps and 2 no. generators
require for starting 1 ballast pump.

Note: Sometime during auto start of BWTS system in ballasting mode, water chiller plant trips due to
overcurrent. Therefor before starting the plant in auto mode, changeover the water chiller from remote to
local and start the water chiller locally for short while and stop it. Further put back the water chiller
control from local to remote and then start the BWTS plant in auto mode. This would avoid further
tripping of water chiller plant.

. Aux. Boiler
Make: KANGRIM HEAVY INDUSTRIES CO. LTD.
Type: Water Tube. Boiler steam production (oil fired): 25000 kg/hr.
Boiler working / design pressure: 16/18 bar
There are 2 Aux. boilers normally used for cargo discharging purpose.
1. All alarms and trips are tried out monthly and in good working condition.
2. All routines are carried out according to PMS.
3. Boiler burner, pilot burner, filters, smoke detector lens and air diffuser to be
cleaned before every discharge.
4. AUX. BOILER is to be use only during cargo discharging and tank cleaning
operation. Soot blow to be carried out after every discharging operation.

Aux. Boiler Soot Blowing Procedure
Generally, deposits on the heating surfaces cause to reduce combustion quality. These deposits will accumulate on the
generating tubes if not removed. This boiler equipped with soot blowers for cleaning. These are manually operated and
arranged for direct connection to the steam system of the ship. In order to obtain an efficient soot cleaning, the steam
pressure must be at normal working pressure and boiler load should not be lower than 50%.
Soot cleaning procedure is as follows.
(1) Check the steam pressure.
(2) Check that main valve and two manual valves of soot blowers are closed.
(3) Open the drain valve to drain water from main tube for a few seconds and close it again.
(4) Open the main valve.
(5) Open the lower manual valve for approx. 5 sec. and close it again.
(6) Open the upper manual valve for approx. 5 sec. and close it again.
(7) Repeat above (4) to (6) 3~4 times.
(8) Close the main valve.
(9) Check that both ball valves are closed.

◎ Composite Boiler

Make: Kangrim Heavy Industries Co. Ltd

Capacity: 1.5 x 0.39 ton/hr.

Working Pressure: 6 Bar


Composite Boiler is used for normal engine room steam
service. Burner routine is to be carried out regularly.
Exhaust side and furnace side cleaning is to be carried out
every month. This cleaning allowance is to be added to the
monthly portage bill of 2 Oilers and Fitter.

◎ Inert Gas Generator


MAKER: KANGRIM HEAVY INDUSTRIES CO.LTD
NORMAL CAPACITY: 11,250 m3/hr.

NORMAL OXYGEN CONTENT: 1-5 % BY VOL.

 IGG plant is running is good working condition. plant operates in LSMGO fuel therefore it
hardly gives any signs of soot deposit in the scrubber tower. Routine maintenance is carried
out on IGG main and pilot burner before every discharging.
 Sometime pilot burner inside pipe get chocked due to carbon deposits and due to this main
burner also fails to start, therefore prior to every cargo discharging, do carry out cleaning of
the pilot burner nozzle and internal pipe.
 Oxygen Analyzer calibrated for Span and Zero calibration before starting
IGG for service
 IGG alarms and trips tried out every month and before cargo operation.
 Both O2 analyzers are satisfactory good working condition.
 After completed operation rinse the IG with Fresh water.

◎ COP Turbine
This vessel is provided with COPT for cargo operation. It is in good working condition.
 Start condensate pump No. 1 or No. 2. (start alternate pump for each discharging operation).
 All routines are carried out according to PMS.
 All alarms & trips tried out monthly, before cargo discharging operation.
And recorded ECR file.
STARTING PROCEDURE
 Start condensate pump No. 1 or No. 2. (start alternate pump for each discharging operation).
 Start vacuum condenser pump.
 Start L.O pump for all the COPT. (Keep in AUTO)
 Open all the drains of COPT fully. Line drains as well as COPT drains. For each COPT there are 3
drains and 2 line drains.
 Open ejector pump steam valve fully.
 Start the Aux. Boiler. Initially in low mode, then manually fire it till 10 bar then to 16 bar. Please
follow this else there will be possibility of tube leakage in long run.
 Open the main steam valve. There are 2 valves on the line. First open the valve attached to the
boiler on boiler top then open the second one (Horizontal).
 Once COPT and line is drained, close all the drains fully and then keep it crack open for steam
to come.
 Crack Open the warming up steam valve and check if water is coming from the drains. Slowly
open the warming up steam valve fully. When no more water comes out and you can see steam
coming out, close all the drains.
 Open the main steam for COPT slowly.
 Confirm there is vacuum in the vacuum condenser. At higher steam pressure it is around 65mm of
Hg column.

 Adjust the gland steam pressure at 0.2-0.3 kgf during warming up and 0.4-0.5 kgf during COP
running condition. It is of utmost important as it affects the vacuum of the vacuum condenser.
 When chief officer demands for any particular COP, always open the preheating valve for the
COPT first then only open the main steam.
 Put the COP on rolling for at least 15-20 mins. at 200 rpm. It is clearly written in manual and is
being underlined by me in the manual. So request chief officer to give time for rolling of COP.
 Keep dumping steam pressure at 16.0 kgf to avoid stoppage of boiler during discharging.

◎ F.O & L.O Purifier


There are 2 HFO Purifiers and 2 L.O Purifiers. All are in good running conditions. Filter routines are to be
carried out regularly.
Operation
Start
 Maintain proper temperature of H.F.O. Sett. Tk. (more than 70°c)
 Always, check proper line up before start supply pump.
 Start pump to circulating.
 Drain water in heating line and open steam of heater. (fully open)
 Start motor of purifier bowl. Check Amp. of motor. If arrive proper R.P.M. & Temp. (more than
90°c is recommended) Press button ‘AUTO START’.
 Check all parameters, pressure and temp.
 Switch on “MM FUNCTION”

Stop
1. Before press button “AUTO STOP” 1~2 times of manual discharge is recommended. Because of
quality of H.F.O. (If press ‘DIS’ button, start discharge process and will feed oil again).
2. Before feed oil, press button “AUTO STOP”. Then Purifier motor also will be stopped automatically.
3. Switch off ‘MM Function’. Close Steam of heater and Stop supply pump.

◎ Main Air Compressor


Both main air compressor is good working condition
There are 2 Main Air Compressors. No. 1 MAC having supply from emergency generator and is the
emergency MAC.
Valve routines are carried out regularly.

◎ Control Air Compressor


Control Air Compressor is a screw type compressor.
Make: Donghwa Pneutec,
Model: Nexcomp compressor
Password for changing setting is 0001
Compressors maintenance is being keep and updated by the 4th Engineer.
Both Control air compressor and service air compressor are good working
condition, new change oil and weekly check running condition such as v-
belt, air filter, any leakage and update in Paris. Pls. find running hours in
monthly reports TR-7

◎ Service Air Compressor


Make : Donghwa Pneutec,
Model: Nexcomp compressor
Password for changing setting is 0001

◎ Sewage Treatment Unit


Working satisfactory and in good condition.
Sewage Treatment Unit is of vacuum type. It is well maintained and is flushed with steam and fresh water
every month. Please keep checking the chlorine dosing tank regularly and also the amount of sea water
introduced for dilution purpose. If it is more the grey water holding tank will be filled quickly during port
stay. As during port stay and restricted water area the discharge is changed over to the grey water
holding tank. Before arrival anchorage or port, should be changed OV’BD line to grey water holding Tk.
After departure, Return the line to OV’BD and discharge the grey water after confirming from bridge the
distance from nearest land should comply Marpol regulation. Weekly, clean Sterilization Tk. by sea water.
Monthly, Flushing Sewage Treatment Plant with steam.

Back-flushing Procedure for Activated Carbon Tank

The suspended solid absorbed in the activated carbon should be removed through the back-flushing of the activated
carbon tank periodically with steam or hot water and the back-flushing procedure is as follows.

<Caution>
As the excessive sludge discharged during the process of back-flushing of the activated carbon

is also untreated sludge, it must be discharged only in the area allowed on the basis of
provisions of "Sewage Restricted Area" designated by the International Maritime Organization.

Back-flushing with Steam

 Close the sewage inflow valve and turn the “Discharge Pump S/W” on the control panel to the
“MANU” position.
 Close the outlet valve ⑨ of the sedimentation tank and the inlet valve ⑩ of the sterilization
tank.
 Open the valves ④⑥ and supply the steam under the pressure of
 7 kg/cm¸ for 2 minutes.
 After closing the valves ④⑥, maintain the status for 30~40 minutes as it is.
 Open the drain valve ⑤ of activated carbon tank and discharge the excessive sludge in the activated
carbon tank to the overboard by operating discharge pump manually.
 Close the valves ③④⑤⑥⑦⑧ and open the valves ⑨⑩. Open the cleaning water inlet valve
①, activated reactor valve ② and supply the cleaning water to the sewage treatment plant. When
the “HL” lamp on control panel for the sterilization tank is on, stop to supply the cleaning water by
closing the cleaning water inlet valve ① and valve ② at the side of reactor immediately.
 Open the drain valve ⑦ of sterilization tank
 Put the operating mode of the discharge pump to “AUTO” position
 Open the sewage inflow valve.

◎ Fresh Water Generator


Fresh Water Generator production capacity is 25 Ton per day. It is in good working condition. VAPTREAT
chemical being used.
For chemical cleaning of FWG condenser and evaporator, connections have been made. Last chemical
cleaning was done on – March 2021

◎ Aircond. Plant
Air condition Plant is in good working condition. There are 2 AC compressors of multi stage. Both are
isolated and can be run independently. No. 1 compressor 2 nd stage valve was malfunctioning so it has
been interchanged with 3rd stage. So, No. 1 compressor runs in 2 nd stage continuously. No. 1 & 2
compressor is in good working condition.
There is a sensor for A.H.U. in C/E’s cabin. The Compressor is started & stopped by temperature of
suction of A.H.U. But if fresh air suction damper is open fully (fresh air 50%, re-circulation 50%), even if
room temperature becomes 15°c, suction temperature of A.H.U. is not changed. So, compressor will not

be stopped. So, check carefully and adjust setting.
* During cargo operation, Close fresh air suction damper by 15%.
L.O.- SHELL REFRIGERATION OIL S4 FR-F 68

◎ Prov. Ref. Plant


Provision Ref. Plant is in good working condition. Temperature of the reefer room maintaining well.

L.O. - SHELL REFRIGERATION OIL S4 FR-F 32
 Please carry out manual defrosting of meat room and fish room weekly so as to avoid excessive
icing of the evaporator and maintain both the chamber temperature -18deg.

◎ W.O. Incinerator
Maker : Hyundai Marine Machinery Co,.Ltd.
Type : MAXI NG100SL WS
Capacity of Incineration: Solid 100Kg/h Liquid 59Kg/h

Good condition. Before operate, Check line up properly. Especially check return line for W.O. Tk. After
transfer sludge from sludge or waste oil tk., evaporation more than 1 day is recommended for good
incineration. To control pressure of Mill Pump, you can adjust by return V/V of mill pump (0.6~0.8kg/cm2,
Green zone). Normally open half to one round.
The automatic W.O. burning sequence is
1. Start primary blower during 1 minute.
2. Fire secondary burner.
3. When secondary chamber’s temperature arrives 400°c, Fire Primary burner.
4. When primary chamber’s temperature arrives 200°c, Fire W.O. burner by D.O.
5. When primary chamber’s temperature arrives 600°c, Fire W.O. burner by W.O.
6. When primary chamber’s temperature arrives 880°c, stop the primary burner.
In normal condition, Maintain Primary Chamber temperature 950°c, Secondary Chamber temperature
800~850°c and Exh. Gas temperature about 250°c
Especially, sludge in waste oil tk. can be cold by sea water and suction point is too low. Sometimes it is
too difficult to transfer. So, if you find a problem to transfer, heating is recommended. (about 70°c)
According to ship’s schedule, you need incinerate oily rags & paper garbage. This model can incinerate
plastic also. When you incinerate oily rags & paper garbage, inform to C/O time of incineration and
quantity. Before arrival anchorage or port, Clean secondary & primary chamber.

H.F.O & M.G.O Bunkering
 Bunkering Line - Manifold V/V, Isolating V/V and Inlet V/V to each Bunker TK. (Hyd. V/V)
 M.G.O. Line – Manifold V/V, Isolating V/V and Inlet V/V to each Bunker TK. (manual V/V)
 Bunker tank level can be monitored from CCR and also the inlet valve can be operated from CCR
panel.
 Pipe lines are in good condition.

Lifting Gears
All lifting gears are to be maintained and recorded monthly in Lifting Gear Log.

WINDLASS & MOORING WINCHES

All the windlass and mooring winches are working in good condition. if the winches are going to run for
longer period then always start the FIRE & GS p/p so that lube oil high temperature trip can be avoided.

Safety Routines
All safety routines are carried out every Saturday and recorded in safety record book. Emergency
equipment are well maintained and are tried out every Saturday.
Life Boat Davit motor (for heaving up) remote switch emergency stop button should not be pressed
during normal operation else the system gets tripped and is difficult to reset.

SPARE PARTS:
Please refer the spare parts book for any spare you needed and can be found in
its location box number at spare parts room.
