Remarks :
If the CNCC is mounted on the subrack and the redundant ringer/power unit is required,
the latter is mounted in position 17 : in this case this position is not available for multiplexer
4.
In case of channel drop and insert, a slave PCM controller unit can be mounted in the
positions 3, 6, 12 and 15 for multiplexer 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively.
The subrack is primarily intended to be used with channel units (CSU's) with 10 or 15
channels per unit (or occupying 10 or 15 time slots on the internal bus). However, other
channel units can be mounted as well. Channel units with different signalling types can be
combined in one subrack and in one multiplexer.
If the number of channels on the CSU's is different and one CSU has a
non-programmable CTC (CTC1 or CTC2), the position of the CSU's is determined by
some rules as the position of the channel signals on the internal buses is fixed for a CSU
with a non-programmable CTC : it is determined by the position of the CSU on the
subrack (see also the table on the next page) :
if only one of the CSU's has a non-programmable CTC, bus conflicts can be avoided
by placing this CSU in a position giving access to bus 2 : position 1, 8, 10 and 17 for
multiplexer 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively. If this is not possible for any reason, place the
non-programmable CSU in the first position giving access to bus 1 : position 2, 6, 11
and 15 for multiplexer 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively.
if two of the CSU's have a non-programmable CTC, bus conflicts can be avoided by
placing one non-programmable CSU in a position giving access to bus 2 and the
other non-programmable CSU in the first position giving access to bus 1 (see above).
if two CSU's with non-programmable CTC have to be mounted in the 2 positions
giving access to bus 1 and one unit has 3 channels per unit while the other has 5
channels, the first is mounted in the first position and the latter in the second position.
for CSU's with a programmable CTC (CTC3) the position of the channel signals on the
internal buses can be chosen freely and is determined by means of man-machine
commands, refer to section 3 of the manual ; installation. The same applies for units
which are not provided with a CTC but with a control circuit offering the same
possibilities.
When the channels on the CSU's occupy more than 30 time slots, at least one CSU should
be placed in such a position that the corresponding channels are connected to bus 2. In
this way the system configuration can be adapted, if required, by means of man-machine
commands only and without the need to rearrange the subrack layout.
Auxiliary units, if required, can be placed on any of the remaining places.

EG
Electrical ground connector.
SG
Safety ground connector.
+5V
+5 V connector :
if an alarm subrack with CASU is equipped on the module and there is no DC/DC
converter on the alarm subrack, then this connector is connected on only one first
order multiplexer subrack to the power distribution cable 772 55102 AXAA for the +5
V supply to the alarm subrack;
if an extension subrack 772 55249 is associated with the multiplexer subrack, then this
connector is connected to the corresponding connector on the extension subrack via a
cable 772 55016.
-5V
-5 V connector, connected to extension subrack 772 55249 (if provided) via a cable 772
55016.
BATF
Fused battery voltage connector (from DC/DC converter), connected to extension subrack
772 55249 (if provided) via a cable 772 55016.
CS
Central supervisory connector, connected to the supervisory distribution flatcable, if
provided and if a CASU or CNCC is provided on the module.
AL
Alarm bus output connector for remote alarm supervision system. The signals on this
connector depend on the PCMC variant :
PCMC : 772 52102 BBBA / 3AL 43018 BXXX
The open collector alarm output is active (low impedance with respect to
ARTN=ground) in case of alarm on the system.
MTL1
Multiple connector 1 (through-connection between subracks) : this connector can be used
as follows :
used for the connection of a +48 V supply for some signalling units if provided;
if the optional TEST-E unit is equipped on one subrack of the module, see section 4 of
the manual (operation), it is used for the through-connection of the test bus :
Meaning :
TPCM system :
Signal 2 : +48V : positive battery supply for some CSUs (if provided) via cable
772 55149
Signal 3 - 4 - 5 : not connected
SPCM system :
exchange :
Signal 2 : not connected
Signal 3 : TBA : test bus A-wire
Signal 4 : TBB : test bus B-wire
Signal 5 : TBF : test bus free indication wire
subscriber :
MTL2
Multiple connector 2 (through-connection between subracks) : can be used for the ringing
bus (normally not used).
Meaning :
TPCM system : Signal 0 - 1 - 8 : not connected
SPCM system :
exchange : Signal 0 - 1 - 8 : not connected
subscriber :
Signal 0 : RBR : ring bus ring lead
Signal 1 : RBT : ring bus tip lead
Signal 8 : not connected
VAL
Auxiliary alarm input connector (only if a CNCC is provided in position 18) :
EXT
Connector used only when an extension subrack 772 55249 is provided or if a CNCC is
provided on this subrack :
CNCC on subrack :
the 2x2-pin connector of a cable 772 55104 AAAX is placed in position 9 and 10 of
the EXT connector of this subrack in order to drive the alarm lamps on the installation
module, if provided.
Extension subrack :
a cable 211 03141 AAFA is placed in the EXT connector of this subrack and of the
extension subrack.
CL
Clock signal connector :
Meaning :
CLKOUTA-CLKOUTB : system clock output
ECLKINA-ECLKINB : external synchronization clock input
By means of straps on the PCM controller unit both the output and the input can be
matched to 120 Ω balanced or 75 Ω unbalanced. In the latter case the A-pins or the
B-pins can be grounded (refer to the strap options on the PCM controller unit).
By means of straps on the backpanel of this subrack, the pins indicated with 'strappable
ground' on the drawing above can be connected to ground or left open. These straps are
located above the CL connector and should be set in the upper position to connect the
corresponding pin to ground or in the lower position to keep it open, as indicated in the
drawing below.

6 Strap fields
Used only if a CASU or CNCC is provided on the module.
Strap above CL connector (next to Q2 connector) : selection of operation mode
For detailed information, refer to section 3 of the manual : installation.
Strap field (above flatcable connector) :
The system numbers for the central alarm system are assigned according to the
installation description (section 3 of the manual), depending upon the subrack
equipment.
In the normal exploitation mode the straps in the second half of this strap field have to
be placed between the upper rows.
In the extended addressing exploitation mode the straps in the second half of this strap
field have to be placed between the second and third rows.
Unused straps can be placed between the third and fourth row.
