Hob
First Armament
Head back outside when you're done. You'll find your robot friend playing with one of those tennis ball birds. Apparently he's special enough that he gets to
pet them, even though he's giant and way scarier than me. It's a good thing I never wanted to pet them anyways, because they're not cute at all.
With your new sword you can cut the grass if you want. You won't find money hidden in the grass, though. It's my understanding that it used to be common
to keep your rupees hidden in the grass, but the practice eventually fell out of favor because creepy little elf kids kept finding and stealing them. You can
still find hearts in the grass when you're injured, though, so cut the grass any time your health isn't full so you can heal up.
If you're not careful, you might also discover that with great power comes great responsibility. Now that you have a sword, you can swing it and kill the little
animals that inhabit the world. I'm so sorry little bunny/squirrel with a flower tail. I promise I didn't mean to murder you. I was lying, before. I thought you were
super cute and I totally wanted to pet you!!!
If you feel like doing a little bit of backtracking here, you can backtrack to the flower pod that I mentioned back in the first part of the
walkthrough. With your sword, you can cut this flower pod open to receive of an extra health bar. By itself this doesn't do anything at the
moment, but when you find a second one, you'll gain a 4th bar of health on your life bar.
You can also cut down small trees now, and this is more useful than cutting the grass. There is a row of trees along the edge of the area south of where you
just got your upgrades. If you cut the trees with your sword, you can drop down of the short ledge behind them.
At the south side of this platform, there's a spot where you can jump across to another platform to the south. On the other side there's a stone
box against the wall with a glowing blue orb. Approach this orb and press , and you'll use your giant robot arm to open the box, receiving
x10. If you like, you can use these to purchase a new ability back at the Workshop. The Mechanical Shield ability for your arm costs x10.
On this platform on the southeast side, you'll find vines growing down the side of a tall pillar below you. The vines form a very convenient ladder. Simply
move toward them and you'll climb down.
At the bottom, head to the right and there's another vine ladder leading further down. At the very south end of the platform at the bottom there's an orange
symbol on the ground. If you want, you can go to the symbol and press to sit down and the camera will pan out to give you a view of the world around
you.
This is a Vista. Vistas are a collectible hidden around the world. They are not necessary for the game, but give you exquisite views of the world,
and there is a trophy for visiting every Vista.
Note however that there is a bit of an issue with the Vistas early on. If you collect a Vista before you have your world map, it will not show up on the map.
You might want to make a note of this and wait until you have your world map before coming back to activate it.
To move on, you'll need to go halfway up the vine ladder, and then jump to the right by pressing →+ . You'll jump to the right and automatically grab
the vines further to the right. Climb along to the right, and then up onto the ledge above.
Move along this ledge to your right and eventually you can find a box hidden within the wall. You have to look close, or you might just think it's part of the
wall. Approach the box from the south. Pull the box out from the wall. The edge immediately above the box it too high to reach, even from atop the box.
There is a slightly lower ledge just to the left, though. Move the box next to this lower ledge, jump onto the box and use it to climb up to the lower ledge, then
jump to the right over to the higher ledge. This is a tougher jump than you've had to make before. It's still possible to make this jump without running, but it's
much easier if you remember to use the run button.
From here, you'll need to jump across a gap to the south. It's actually hard to see where to go next, because the platform to the south is barely visible
before you make the jump. Jump across the gap to the south, then go left and jump across another gap. This platform will turn north. There's yet another
gap. When you jump across this gap you'll reach a vine ladder along a pillar.
/
Note that you cannot jump backward from a ladder. This means that after you jump across, you cannot jump back to the platform, so you cannot return the
way you came. You have to find another way to get back.
The vines don't go all the way up to the ledge above, though. Instead, there's another vine ladder further left that you'll have to jump to. Press ← + to
jump across, then use the vines to climb up to the platform above you.
Move to the right of this area and you'll see a series of loose bricks against the wall in the back. You can use these bricks like a ladder just like you did the
vines. Climb the bricks to a higher level. At the top, you'll find a save checkpoint.
Just past the checkpoint to the northwest, you'll see a couple of new creatures. This kind of look like they're half cricket half gremlins. These are not friendly
creatures. They will attack you if you get too close.
...or maybe they just think you're really cute and they want to pet you, but they're being too rough. I may have just had an epiphany!
This is the perfect opportunity to earn this optional trophy. The big ogre to the north is very strong, and has a huge range with his axe. These two
little gremlin creatures are very weak and will die in a single hit. Just lure the gremlins up to the ogre, attack the ogre, then stay close to him until
he starts swinging his axe, and then roll away. He'll often kill both gremlins with a single attack.
<br?>
Then just pause the game and select RESPAWN and you'll die and restart at the checkpoint and the gremlins will be back. Lure them up to the
ogre and repeat the process until the trophy unlocks.
A single swing of your sword will defeat each enemy. They're not difficult.
There's an ogre to the north with a face that consists of a mouth and nothing else. When you defeat him, you'll earn x2. Enemies that drop
are rare, and do not respawn. You only get to fight them once. Think of them as collectibles. You'll need the they drop to purchase all the
abilities in the game.
This also means that the Ogre won't respawn, and so you can only use him to get the Win Without Fighting trophy if you do it now. If you kill the Ogre
without earning the trophy first, you'll have to look for another opportunity.
Heading north, you'll see a large ogre like enemy with a giant axe trying to break through a door along the north wall. This guy is a lot tougher, but you can
defeat him. He has several various sweeping attacks with his axe, as well as a chop attack right in front of him that has increased range. Just wait until he
attacks, run in and hit him 2-3 times, then move back out of his range. If you defeat him you'll earn a couple of the green orbs that you can spend on ability
purchases. Note that this guy will ignore you until you get good and close. You have to defeat him before you can move on, but wait until you're good and
ready before you take him on.
To the right of here, you can find your first butterfly. There's a purple stone on the ground overlooking a cliff. Approach it and press to
collect the mechanical butterfly on top.
/
After you collect the butterfly, head back to where the Ogre was trying to get through the door. Press to open the door. You can force it open with your
robot arm.
Once you reach the large area you cannot return. The last platform you jump from is much higher than the final platform you
land on, so you cannot make the jump going the other direction.
Head south down a stone staircase. At the bottom you'll see an orange ladder leading down. Take the ladder down. You can see that the ladder is broken at
the bottom. You can let go of the ladder at the bottom by pressing to drop to the ground. You won't be able to reach the ladder to go back up, so this is a
one way trip for the moment.
There's another save checkpoint just ahead, so this truly is a one way trip. Head to your right. There's a large orange machine to the southeast. Circle
around the machine clockwise, climbing the stone steps. When you reach the machine, walk up to the little fist icon in front of it and you'll stick your
mechanical arm into the machine.
You'll gain a new ability, the punch ability. Pressing will now result in punching with your robot arm. Hold and you'll charge up a more powerful punch.
You also gain a stamina bar now. Stamina can be used to perform special moves. Doing your charged punch depletes your stamina. Also, when you have
Stamina you'll take less damage from enemies if you're hit. When your stamina is depleted you become more susceptible to damage. Stamina recovers
automatically over time.
First Armament
Your new punch ability will allow you to punch through weak walls and activate certain switches. There is a switch on the north wall of this room. Go
to the switch and press to activate it. The game prompts you to hold but you can actually just press it.
This will open a hallway up. Head through the hall, then drop down off the platform on the far side. If for some reason you want to go back, you can reach
this platform again by jumping off of the rubble just to the right to get the extra height you need to reach it.
Head north and climb the platforms here. On the right side of the platform there's a ladder made of loose bricks leading up. At the top of the ladder, press
→+ and you'll jump across to the small platform to your right. You'll actually land on top of the platform. You won't grab the vines on the side like you
might expect. From here, press ↑+ and you'll jump up and climb the ledge above you to the next level.
Head left along the ledge. Eventually the ledge will turn. When this happens the camera will change angles suddenly. This can catch you off guard. Be
careful. You don't want to get disoriented and slip and fall off the ledge.
Continue going left after the camera changes, and climb up to the highest platform. At the top of this platform is a weak wall. With your new punch ability,
you can punch right through it. You'll need to hold to charge up your punch to break the wall.
/
The camera changes again as you go through the hole in the wall. This leads you back to the area you were in before you went down the orange ladder
that was broken at the bottom. The platforms leading back the way you initially came in are too high and too far away. You can't jump back to them.
There's another weak wall along the north side. Charge up your punch attack and punch through the wall again.
Go through the wall and you'll find a little button with a fist icon on the ground. Stand on top of the button, and then jump and punch , to
punch down onto the button. This will cause the stone to fall away on the pillar below you, creating a ladder of loose bricks for you to climb.
Before you climb down the ladder, there's a platform to your left. Jump across the gap to that platform. Charge your punch (hold ) and punch
the wall to the north. This will break through into a little hall that runs behind a gate along the side of the cliff. Follow this to the left and you'll
find a box that you can open for x10.
Return the way you came, jump across the gap, and climb down the ladder.
At the bottom of the ladder you'll find a large round cylinder. There's another punch button on the side. Give it a punch to knock it backward,
where it will line up with a groove in the floor and the whole cylinder will drop down so you can cross over it.
Go left across the device, then follow the path as it turns south. The camera changes on you for a minute. Just keep going. Eventually you'll come
out in an area with another punch button on the north wall. Give it a punch and the entire platform will collapse downward, leaving you with a series
of small ledges that you can climb, with a ladder of loose bricks at the top that will take you back up to the entrance to this cave system. Exit the
cave.

I wish to say thank you for the excellent walkthrough you have provided in this very impressive game. I am getting the feel of the game mechanics (pc/mouse) and
moving around more easily. The Walkthrough is beautifully written, concise and easy to understand (quite apart from being most helpful).
