(useful for any Special Education teachers)
Readspeaker
( Dave Odtuhan)
• Helping students build lifelong learning skills, build confidence, and achieve
academic success.
• Fee structure? $4/month
• Anyone can benefit from text-to-speech software like Readspeaker, but it is most
helpful for students who are struggling with disabilities like ADHD or dyslexia
since Readspeaker allows them to see how words are spelled as they are read out
loud. This means that software helps students focus on the content rather than
on the act of reading, resulting in a better understanding of the material,
which makes them more likely to retain information and increases their
confidence and motivation. Aside from this, it can also help younger students
who struggle with pronouncing new words and improve their word recognition.

• Seesaw
• Seesaw is a platform for student engagement that inspires students of all
ages to do their best, and saves teachers time! Students use creative tools
to take pictures, draw, record videos, and capture learning in a portfolio.
Teachers find or create activities to share with students.
• Seesaw is free, Seesaw plus is $120 per year
• I could see this platform being used for homework and seeing the growth
in students. Seesaw is a digital portfolio tool incorporating student, family,

• Whiteboard.fi (a Kahoot! Company)
• A digital whiteboard tool designed to improve engagement and make formative assessment instant.
• A free version is available, but you cannot save your work. There is a $4.99/month offer where you
can create a teacher account. This option comes with no ads and the ability to assign, receive, and
review submissions. The $12.99/month offer is the way to go because it lets you provide instant
feedback, and the ability to save your whiteboards, among other things.
• This would be a great technology in class because you can individualize learning by allowing
students to work at their own pace on their own whiteboard. It lets the teacher quickly assess what
levels different students are at in their learning, which is useful throughout the year, but especially
important at the beginning of a new lesson or concept. Students can also show more creativity using
different new tools on the whiteboard app. Privacy is another bonus because students get their own
individual digital whiteboards. You can make your whiteboard whatever you want, for any class at
any grade level. It keeps the class engaged as well because everyone gets to answer.

• Gimkit
• Provide a fun way for kids to engage with their learning through
games.
• You can sign up for free!
• I could see this fitting into the K-12 curriculum as an alternative to
coolmath.com. Gimkit also has different subjects the students can
work on so it provides different varieties of games over cool math. I
think it is also interesting that Gimkit was created by a student for
students knowing this will give the students a sense of pride and
possibly come up with their own solutions to modern day problems.
