1.1 BACKGROUND/OVERVIEW OF THE PROJECT

SITUATION ANALYSIS:
Agritourism is Business of establishing farms as travel destinations for

educational and recreational purposes. Where agriculture and tourism meet to provide
you with an amazing educational experience, whether it be a tour of a farm or ranch or
a festival. Farm/ranch recreation refers to activities conducted on private agricultural
lands, which might include fee-hunting and fishing, overnight stays, educational
activities, etc. This category of tourism is a subset of a larger industry known as
agritourism. Agritourism is "a commercial enterprise at a working farm, ranch, or
agricultural plant conducted for the enjoyment of visitors that generates supplemental

Agritourism and nature-tourism enterprises might include, Outdoor recreation

(fishing, hunting, wildlife study, horseback riding) ,Educational experiences (cannery
tours, cooking classes, or wine tasting),Entertainment (harvest festivals or barn
dances),Hospitality services (farm stays, guided tours or outfitter services),On-farm direct
sales (u-pick operations or roadside stands).

The Philippines is in an ideal position to take market leadership in this segment, with
its 11 million hectares of agricultural land, it’s deep agricultural history, its tropical
climate , diverse selection of agricultural products including exotic fruits and an
English speaking population .
Notable farm tourist locations in the country includes la Union , Laguna , and Davao ,
due to the abundance of organic farms , nature friendly farms and health and wellness
farms in these areas
At present, La Union capitalizes on the great potential of both its agriculture and
tourism . the government recognizes the potential of agriculture and tourism to bring

about sustained economic growth in the province which will contribute largely in the
development of rural areas
San Gabriel is a 4th landlocked municipality in the coastal province of La Union,

the largest municipality by land area .The municipality has a land area of 129.87 square
kilometers or 50.14 square miles which constitutes 8.67% of La Union's total area
allocated for agricultural activities such as cultivation of the soil , planting of crops ,
growing of tress , rasing of livestock , poultry fish or aquaculture production to include
harvesting of farm products and other farm activities and practices performed in
conjuction with such farming operations .The chosen Barangay Bucao, is the largest
producer of rice and corn crops in San Gabriel.
San Gabriel’s population as determined by the 2020 Census was 18,943 people,
with a density of 150 inhabitants per square kilometer or 390 inhabitants per square mile.
This represented 2.30% of the total population of La Union province, or 0.36% of the
overall population of the Ilocos Region. ( Philatlas.com)
One example of an agriculturally – based operation or activity that can draw visitors
to an agritourism, ranch or any natural site is having Horticulture.
Horticulture is an unfamiliar term to many people. Yet, when they are told that
caring for houseplants, growing tomatoes in the garden, and mowing the lawn are
horticultural activities, the term suddenly becomes much clearer. Give it some thought,
and you’ll find that horticulture is part of our culture and everyday lives. ( CAERT ,Inc)
Horticulture is a segment of the agriculture industry. The term horticulture literally

means the culture of a garden. However, the term has taken on a broader context.
Horticulture includes the production and use of plants for food, comfort, and
beautification. A direct relationship exists between horticulture and science. The area of
science most closely associated with horticulture is botany. Botany is the study of plants
and plant processes. The field of science that deals with the cultivation of horticultural

plants is known as horticulture science. Science is applied across the horticulture

industry. The application of science to horticulture is called horticulture technology.
Successfully raising horticultural plants takes more than just daily watering. Time,
patience, and an understanding of diverse scientific processes are needed to produce
optimal plant growth. ( CAERT ,Inc)
The proposed project will be the province of La Union's first Agritourism Hub,
comprising a Horticulture Training Center, a Local Restaurant, Local Stay-in Villas,
Educational Farm Tours, Agritourism Park, Souvenir Shops, and Educational
Showrooms. The San Gabriel Showroom will highlight and market the industry's various
products, while the Farmers' Training Grounds will educate them in improving and
strengthening their farming capabilities.
1.1 BACKGROUND / OVERVIEW OF THE PROJECT

II. PROJECT LOCATION
The proposed project is located in San Gabriel, La Union, a mountainous and

forested area..It is accessible to all kinds of vehicles which have an approximate distance
of 1.2 kilometers from the Central Business District (CBD) of San Gabriel. At the
northern part of the site is bounded by Brgy. Road going to the Barangay Kilat and some
parts of Town of Santol and Benguet Province . At the southern part, is bounded by
Brgy. Road going to Brgy. Balbalosa San Juan along with agricultural lands and Baroro
River and San Fernando City , the eastern part of the site is bounded by the Guerrero

Ave, going to the Barangay Duplas, passing by Barangay Bucao and the western part of
the site is going to Barangay Poblacion, where CBD is located. .
San Gabriel town center is 16.5 kilometers from San Fernando City, La Union, and 8
kilometers from the San Juan intersection. You will glimpse or encounter breathtaking
scenery at the particular area, especially during sunset.
III. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The “SAN GABRIEL AGRITOURISM HUB” (Integrating Horticulture

Oriented Leisure Complex) is an educational and commercial project where people can
come to learn about agriculture, take tours, buy fresh produce, and participate in hands-on
activities while exploring new ideas. . The place is composed of fresh products and goods
coming from highland and neighboring areas . Agri-villa, Local Restaurants ,
Agritourism Park ,Souveneir shop, Educational Showroom with hands on activities are
included, Planting Stations are provided for hands-on activities such as vegetable picking
and learning how to plant crops. A souvenir station and educational showroom area, as
well as eateries, have been created to suit business businesses and provide tourists with
an educational farm experience.
IV. TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
The Buildings in the proposed project “SAN GABRIEL AGRITOURISM

HUB” (Integrating Horticulture in Oriented Leisure Complex) shall be of Type III,
which states the use of masonry and wood construction. Structural elements may be any
of the materials permitted by the Code provided,buildings with non combustile walls but
a woof framed roof. (Revised National Building Code of the Philippines and its
Implementing Rules,2005)

The project's construction includes numerous scopes such as site development,

which includes site clearing, backfill, proper drainage, and waste control.
Basic utilities shall provide public water system, pump systems, electric power,
street lighting, suitable drainage, septic tank for sewerage disposal, efficient garbage
collection and disposal systems, and others to enable living circumstances on the
proposed projects.
The proposed AGBIAG RESTAURANT shall be classified under Type III, which
states the use of masonry and wood construction. Structural elements may be any of the
materials permitted by the Code provided, that the building shall be one-hour fire-
resistive throughout, with a combination of non-combustible masonry and fire-cut joists,
exterior walls can stay standing even if the floors collapse. (Revised National Building
Code of the Philippines and its Implementing Rules,2005)
The Administrative Building shall be of Type III, which states the use of masonry
and wood construction. Structural elements may be any of the materials permitted by the
Code provided, that the building shall be one-hour fire-resistive throughout. Exterior
walls shall be of incombustible fire-resistive construction.(Revised National Building
Code of the Philippines and its Implementing Rules,2005)
The Souvenier Shop, Educational Showroom , and Assembly Area shall be

V. PROJECT CLASSIFCATION
The proposed Agbiag Restaurant is classified under Group E –Bussiness

Mercantile , Division 2- Wholesale and Retail stores , office buildings drinking and
dining establishments having an occupant of ess than 100 persons , police and fire
stations , factories and workshops using ot highly flammable or combustible materials
and paint stores without bulk handlings ( PD 1096, 2005)
The proposed Administrative Building is under Group C – Education and

Recreation , Division 2 – any assembly building without stage and having an occupant
load of 300 or more building ( PD 1096, 2005)
The proposed Souvenir Shop and Educational Showroom is under Group E –

Bussiness and Mercatile -Division 2. Wholesale and retail stores, office buildings,
drinking and dining establishments having an occupant load of less than one hundred
persons, printing plants, police and fire stations, factories and workshops using not highly

flammable or combustible materials and paint stores without bulk handlings. ( PD 1096,
2005)
The proposed Agri Villas is classified under Group B – Occupancies shall be

multiple dwelling units including boarding , or lodging houses , hotels , apartment
building , row houses , convents , monasteries and other similar building each of which
accommodates more than 10 persons. ( PD 1096, 2005)
The proposed Wood Cottages and Bamboo structures with tensile roof located at
the agritourism park shall be under Group J – Accessory , Division 1 – Private garages ,
carports , sheds and agricultural building. . ( PD 1096, 2005)
The proposed Assembly Hall is under Group H- Assembly other than Group 1 .
Group H occupancies Division 3. Any assembly building without a stage and having an
occupant load of less than 300 in the building. ( PD 1096, 2005)
ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION
This proposal combines architecture and agriculture to provide basic facilities and
other activities while also ensuring the site's long-term sustainability. One of the
architectural styles to be adopted on structures is adding a concept design of local
products in San Gabriel, such as tiger grass and bamboo, to be adopted on structures.
VI. PROPONENT
The proposed project proponent will be the Local Government Unit of San Gabriel
headed by the Municipal Mayor Herminigildo M. Velasco (2019-2022) adopted by the
New elect Mayor Lanie Carbonell (2022-2025). The Local Government Unit of San
Gabriel will manage the entire facilities of the Proposed Project with the Department of
Agriculture and Tourism that is responsible for the promotion of agricultural through

horticulture for development and tourism. Officially the Municipality of San Gabriel, is a
4th class municipality in the province of La Union. It is the largest municipality by land
area in the province of La Union.
VII. TARGET USERS and NO. BUILDING CAPACITY
The target users of the proposed project specifically for the people of San Gabriel.
Since, the proposed project will provide employment, the beneficiaries will be the people
of San Gabriel and also to the neighboring towns/municipalities. Local Farmers, local
visitors, foreign tourists, and students of all levels will be targeted by the planned project,
which would serve as a learning center for them to learn about various methods of
sustainable agriculture.

According to San Gabriel's total number of Farmers as of 2020, Barangay Amontoc has
the highest followed by Barangay Bucao, while the lowest number of farmers is
Barangay Bayabas. Total of Farmers in San Gabriel is 5,693.
VIII.BUDGET APPROPRIATION/ ALLOCATION / FINANCIAL SCHEME
The local government of San Gabriel has an estimated share from Internal Revenue
allotment ( IRA) as of 2021 is amounting to 101,293,531.00
The proposed project has a budget of 100 million pesos, which will be financed by the
San Gabriel Local Government Unit, led by Hon. Herminigildo Velasco, for the
construction of new facilities and structures, which is 60 percent of the 100 million pesos
that will come from the IRA (internal revenue allocation) ( appendix N: internal Revenue

The initial budgetary cost shall be segregate accordingly to its redevelopment and

1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
San Gabriel, La Union, is gaining popularity as a result of its local goods, people,
and natural resources. Through the establishment of the SAN GABRIEL AGRI-
TOURISM HUB in San Gabriel, La Union, which focuses on the promotion of local
products. Along with this initiative, a new design will be created to address the issues.
The planned project intends to conserve and protect the municipality's beautiful qualities,
to provide the basic needs of people on vacations, and to educate people about their
culture.
In addition, these following questions must be also answered and solved by the study:

1. What are the primary problems and lacks of facility in order to have an agri-
tourism hub
2. What are the facilities that in a cultural way an Agritourism Hub should have?
3. How to plan the over all design of the proposed Agri-tourism Hub that will the
Municipal’s cultural identity?
4. How to improve the wind circulation and natural lighting inside the proposed
buildings?
5. Who are the target users and how they affect the proposal?
6. What are the design approaches to be applied in the proposal?
1.3 GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
A. SOCIAL
• To provide opportunity and livelihood to the people of San Gabriel , La Union

especially the farmers and the poor.
• Livelihood, seminars, entrepreneurship skills, enterprises and production and to prepare

the community towards industrial development.
• To provide a supportive and welcoming environment through the promotion of

agri-tourism in the Municipality of San Gabriel.
• Education and training will help individuals in learning or improving their

farming abilities.
B. ECONOMIC
 Through taxes and revenues, to improve the economic situation of the inhabitants,
particularly farmers and employees of the municipality of San Gabriel, La Union.

• To enhance and promote the quality of products in the municipality of San Gabriel,
particularly the primary product "Soft Broom," as well as to introduce it to
neighboring communities.
 To improve the commercialization of products to the market.
C. ENVIRONMENTAL
 To increase environmental awareness , education and conservation of natural
resources.
 The provide fresh and healthy goods and products such as fruits and vegetables
from highland areas fot the consumers.
• The Buildings will also be using an eco-friendly materials specially “ Bamboo

Materials” that safeguard the environment.

 To provide facilities that will integrate the commerce and tourism

1.5 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE RESEARCH

availability to the location.

improvements needed in the construction of the project at site 1 ( zone 1)
It will also contain the appropriate marketing studies and plans for the company to
market " San Gabriel Agritourism Hub" through sign boards, brochures, multi-media
advertising, and partnership with other government departments and firms
.Phase 2 : Site 2 Development
This phase includes the necessary site clearing , excavation, landfill and other site
improvements needed in the construction of the project at site 2 ( zone 2)
At this site , Administrative Building , Agbiag Restaurant , Planting Beds , Souvenir
shops, Educational Showroom Area , Assembly area , Umisem Park , Agri Villas
will be constructed , together with the cottages, Public Comfort Rooms, Benches, and
Bamboo sheds.

B. HORTICULTURE

1.10 ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ANALYSIS
The proposed project is a tourism oriented establishment that will have an impact to the
locality through the waste , pollutions , noise and other nuisance to the environment that
will produce . the use of natural lightning and ventilation for the buildings shall be
maximized to avoid artificial air and excessive artificial lightning .
Proper schedule of waste storage , collection disposal should implemented first at the
source of wastes, garbage should be segregated to minimize the large amount of waste to
be burned or dumped to the public disposal by putting three (3) garbage bins in every
stragetic locations. Bins should be labeled as “Recycable , non recyceable and special
waste respectively ( R.A. 9003)

1.11 DEFINITION OF TERMS
1. Agri-tourism- Simply stated, agritourism could be thought of as the crossroads of

tourism and agriculture. Stated more technically, agritourism can be defined as a form of
commercial enterprise that links agricultural production and/or processing with tourism in
order to attract visitors onto a farm, ranch, or other agricultural business for the purposes
of entertaining and/or educating the visitors and generating income for the farm, ranch, or
business owner.
2. Horticulture Design- the branch of plant agriculture dealing with garden crops,
generally fruits, vegetables, and ornamental plants. The word is derived from the Latin
hortus, “garden,” and colere, “to cultivate.” As a general term, it covers all forms of
garden management, but in ordinary use it refers to intensive commercial production. In

2.1 SITE SELECTION PROCESS
2.1.1 Site Selection Criteria and Adoptability of the Site Project

Site selection is the process of examining multiple options and assessing their
relative advantages and disadvantages. Site selection comes after the needs
assessment is completed. Site Selection is very important before we initiate our
construction. Detailed study of site and its surroundings will help justify our
design proposal. Detailed study of the site and surrounding areas of the site helps
in designing the proposed project efficiently. The following factors are major
criteria to be considered:
According to Agricultural Marketing Resource Center (2010)
1) Reach Land and water resources at site,

2) Near to urban area is best location but is not compulsory you can develop side
away from city site
3) Good natural site and tourist places near about farm
4) Good characteristics of the landscape,
5) Farm close to population centers, urban area, pilgrims and historical places
6) Easy to reach at your farm by train, bus, vehicle etc.

2.1.2 Description of Site Option Alternative Site
The site is located at Barangay Bucao, San Gabriel, La Union. The site is
classified as Agricultural zone based on the Comprehensive Land Use Plan of San
Gabriel. The site is relatively flat. The location Compatible with current and probable
future zoning regulations .The Location area is good enough to be constructed by
Agritourism Hub , favorable orientation to wind and natural light. The shape and form of

the site is irregular shape. The soil condition is good enough for the site since the soil is
Silt Loam which is suitable for planting corn, rice, tobacco and etc. Existing land fill is
reasonably well compacted
LOCATION- location must be located within the agricultural lot , safe and peaceful for
visitors.
SIZE- the size shall be large enough to accommodate all activities and land use.
TOPOGRAPHY-The land should be level to rolling terrain , as long as clearing and

grading will pose no problem in terms of undue expense and soil erosion . The site should
not be subjected to flooding.
SOIL- soil bearing capacity must be enough to support building load, compose of sand
clay, and silt.
LANDSCAPING- To exhibit its beauty, the land should be built in accordance with
cultural layouts.
Parking- parking should be provided in accordance with the national Building code:
a. Location of the parking area should be between the stores and the streets such that
it will be away from pedestrian areas
b. Separate area should be provided specially for parking and queueing of public
transport modes sch as tricycles , buses and jeepneys.
USE , SAFETY AND SECURITY
1. Section 5. Safety and Security. To ensure safety and security, the following
shall be available:
a. Security Personnel - Security personnel shall be on duty on a 24-hour basis to

ensure the safety of guests;

b. Safety Signages - Appropriate safety signages shall be conspicuously

displayed within agri-tourism/farm site;
c. Off Limit - Off Limit areas shall be clearly demarcated. Access to these areas
shall be roped-off or blocked. Public areas shall be specifically designated;
d. Fire Fighting Facilities - There shall be firefighting facilities within the farm;
e. First Aid Kit - A well-stocked first aid kit shall be made available at all times;
f. Farm Equipment - Farm equipment shall have proper parking or storage areas.
Farm equipment, purposely put on display, shall be roped-off from visitors.
2. Section 6 Sanitation. The following sanitary facilities shall be provided:

a. Wash Areas - There shall be designated wash areas within the farm with ample
amenities such as continuous flow of clean water, soap, hand towel, or tissues paper
b. Restrooms - There shall be separate, clean and well-maintained rest rooms for
male and female. Bathrooms shall also be provided, if applicable.
c. Garbage Cans - There shall be garbage cans in all activity areas.
d. Garbage Disposal/Waste Management - Garbage/waste disposal shall adhere to
sustainable methods and techniques geared towards environmental protection.

Select the site and propose a suitable development proposal for that site. Therefore
the selected site is located in the Barangay Bucao, San Gabriel, La Union. This site is
currently occupied as an agricultural land filled with rice , corn and other seasonable
crops.The site shows great capability for development; it appeals with the criterions of
safe and liveable area as well as great location for building an agritourism Hub. Road
connections and access to the site are sufficient to comply the needs of the proposed
project. The site could be affected by environmental hazards such as weather ,ground
shaking, liquefaction, and has low to moderate flood susceptibility which can be seen in.

a) LOCATION- The selected site is located in the Barangay Bucao, San Gabriel, La
Union. This site is currently occupied as an agricultural land filled with rice , corn
and other seasonable crops.The site shows great capability for development; it is
1.22 kilometer away from Municipality of San Gabriel. It is bounded by
agriculutural crops from western ,eastern and southern part while Barangay road
at the northern part .
b) PHYSICAL PROFILE
TOPOGRAPHY- the surrounding area of the lot has a slope of classidfied s level to
nearly level . the lot is sals classified as level to nearly level with slope of o%- 3%
SIZE AND SHAPE OF LOT- The existing site is an irregular lot composed of 27
parcels of lands with irregular shapes and is relatively flat. The Proposed project is
situated at Barangay Bucao, San Gabriel La Union (Plate No. 1: Vicinity Map, )
covering an area of 2,210 sq.m for Lot A, 3,471 sq.m for Lot B, 2,441 sq.m for Lot C,
2,017 sq.m for Lot D, 3,683 sqm for Lot E, 726 sq.m for Lot F, 726 sq.m for Lot G, 959
sq.m for Lot H, 813 sq.m for Lot I, 728 sq.m for Lot J, 989 sq.m for Lot K, 1,022 sq.m
for Lot L, 1,085 sq.m for Lot M, 1,263 sq.m for Lot N, 4,862 sq.m for Lot O, 3,519 sq.m
for Lot P, and for Q is 2,907 sq.m, with a total lot area of 33,421 sq.m or 3.3 hectares.

SOIL TYPE the soil type of the existing lot is loam soil , good for agricultural crops
( CLUP 2014-2024) A loamy soil, then, is one that combines all three of these types of
particles in relatively equal amounts. Loamy soil is ideal for most garden plants because

it holds plenty of moisture but also drains well so that sufficient air can reach the roots.

HYDROGRAPHY – the proposed site has a natural supply called “ubbog” , the water
source coming from the mountains at the north and east of the location.
CLIMATE - There are two distinct seasons in the municipality , the wet and dry . the
dry season is from the month of November to April and wet season during months of

EXISTING SITE VEGITATION- minimal existing trees in the location but not more
that 3 meters height
GEOLOGICAL HAZZARDS- the municipality od San Gabriel is located northeast of

the city of San Fernand , La Union – provincial capital . it is 16.50 km and 8km away
from the city and Municipaity of San Juan , respectively. San Gabriel is at 120 longtitude
and 16’50’ latitude
FLOOD-The municipality is not in a flood zone, yet during typhoons or prolonged

periods of heavy rain, the water level in the Barroro River, which runs through the
southern part of the site, rises. According to the MGB Assessment report, parts of
Barangay Bucao, Bumbuneg, and Barangay Pobacion are most vulnerable to floods.

LANDSLIDE AND EROSIONS- Since San Gabriel is a mountainous area, most of the
barangays in the municipality undergo moderate erosion and landslides. Although there is
a mountain in the east section of the municipality, it is still part of barangay Bucao, and
no landslides or erosion have occurred in the last 5 years. Nonetheless, 90% of the
municipality's entire land is prone to erosion. (CLUP 2015-2024)

CLIMATE RELATED HAZZARDS-Although flooding is already experienced in the

locality the flood prone areas or flash floods are limited along the banks of Barroro
River . Some parts of Barangay Poblacion , Bumbuneg and Bucao are located. Flash
flood in theses areas happens only when heavy downpour of 2-4 hours of rain occurs the
river water depth between 3-5 meters which reduces to 12 hours ( CLUP 2015-2024)
WASTE MANAGEMNT-The municipality has a sanitary landfill at present with an

area of 3.1 hectares .. this is found near the boundaries of Poblacion and Lipay Sur .

TRANSPORTATION-Land transportation facility in the municipality is readily

available with the presence of utility vehicles like jeepneys , trycycles , motorbike and
even private vehicles . ( CLUP , 2015-2024)
c.) DISASTER RISK ANALYSIS-There are only 2 types of hazards that often
happen to the town . this area rain included landslide and flashfloods ( CLUP ,
2015-2024)
d.) SOCIO ECONOMIC PROFILE
San Gabriel's early inhabitants relied primarily on upland forming for their
livelihood. Rice, corn, and sweet potatoes were plentiful. Due to the washing out of the
soil in the paddies, crop output decreased year after year. Despite this, they chose to make
improvements to their farm by building terraces.
Tiger Grass and Banana are abundant in San Gabriel , this tiger grass are made into
SOFT BROOM’s. San Gabriel is the biggest producer of softbroom in the province of
LA Union with annual production of 1500 metric tons
POPULATION-In the 2020 census , the population of san Gabriel , La Union was
18,943 people with a density of 140 inhabitants per square kilometer of 360 inhabitants
per square mile. ( PSA . 2020)

ECONOMIC STRUCTURE- The primary and secondary sectors of the local economy
in San Gabriel are the primary and secondary sectors, respectively. Agriculture, cattle,
and foresty are all examples of primary. Trade and commerce, personal and communal

PROTECTIVE SERVICES- The peace and order situation and managed and
maintained by the Philippines National Police ( PNP) which has a ratio of 1 police to
865 persons . Statistics for the past three years reported low volume of crime incidence (

e.)SOCIO CULTURAL PROFILE
The original descendants of the place, the iballoy and kankanaey tribes, were
Indonesians who came down from the mountain provinces before the Spanish colonial
period. As they peacefully coexisted for decades, their cultures were intertwined,
resulting in a more cordial connection between them, which has lasted to this day. That is
why the majority of the residents of this barangay originate from Benguet, Mountain
Province.The location has an advantage for tourists going to tangadan falls, they can side
trip anytime at the san Gabriel agritourism hub and by chance of exploring another tourist
destination.
 The municipal center of San Gabriel is situated at approximately 16° 40' North,
120° 24' East, in the island of Luzon. Elevation at these coordinates is estimated
at 22.0 meters or 72.2 feet above mean sea level.
 There are 2 roads going to tangadan falls and at the same time , same path roads is
a pass-by the hub.

San Gabriel , officially the Municipality of San Gabriel (Ilocano: Ili ti San Gabriel;
Pangasinan: Baley na San Gabriel; Filipino: Bayan ng San Gabriel), is a 4th class
municipality in the province of La Union, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it
has a population of 18, 943 people with a density of 150 inhabitants per square kilometre
or 390 inhabitants per square mile.
It is the largest municipality by land area in the province of La Union in the

Philippines. One of the landlocked towns of the province, San Gabriel is bounded on the
north by Santol with an imaginary line from a point in Ticor following the Malanas
River; on the east by the Province of Benguet with an imaginary line from the
Bacawayan River Junction going south following a creek to Cabassitan River up to
Barangay Duplas of San Juan, southwest by San Juan with an imaginary line from Duplas
following the Cabassitan River westward to a point on a concrete monument near the
place known as Alangigan and from this monument going north-west making an
imaginary line to Sitio Bato crossing the Dayacos River, and on the west by Bacnotan
from Sitio Bato to a point in Lacong, from this point going straight with an imaginary

ECONOMY
San Gabriel is an agricultural town. In its early days, the people of San Gabriel were
engaged mainly in highland farming as their means of livelihood. They produced rice,
corn, sweet potatoes, and other root crops. As years passed, crop production decreased
due to massive soil erosion in the uplands. Nevertheless, the inhabitants decided to
improve their farming techniques and started making terraces. The perseverance of the

people in constructing rice terraces and irrigation system along the hills and mountains of
San Gabriel caused agricultural productivity to rebound.

-Tangadan Falls is located in Amontoc, San Gabriel, La Union, a
predominantly mountainous municipality in Region I. The name of Tangadan
Falls is derived from an Ilokano root word “tangad,” which means to look up,

Vernacular architecture is characterised by its reliance on needs, construction

materials and traditions specific to its particular locality. It is a type of architecture which
is indigenous to a specific time and place and not replicated from elsewhere.
Historically, vernacular architecture has incorporated the skills and expertise of
local builders as opposed to formally-trained architects.

The proposed project “San Gabriel Agritourism” aims to be beneficial not only to
the community but also for the farmers and to contribute directly to the economy
through its creation of job nearby barangays .

Agritourism Park ,agri Villa and Agbiag Restaurant will operate Monday through

The author, Jia Faye Kristia C. Honorio , was born on the 17th day of November 1997. She is
the Eldest Daughter among 3 children of Mr. Jimmy Honorio and Mrs. Flordeliza Honorio
of barangay Poblacion , San Gabriel LA Union.
She is an elementary graduate student from Holy Angels Montessori in San Juan La Union ,
and Highschool graduate from San Louis College year 2010-2014, where her skills began

She enters her college in the year 2014 at Saint louis College to take up bachelor of Science
in Architecture .The first part of the journey was not easy experiencing college life having

A.2 Form of Ownership

The San Gabriel Agritourism Hub is a Local Government Project.
Any of the project's buildings and structures will be under the immediate
oversight of the Municipal Mayor, Head of Municipal Tourism Office,
and Municipal Agriculturist.
A.3 DEVELOPMENT AND CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT
The major source of project authority in all operations will be the execution of the
project construction as all implemented by the government through the municipality of San
Gabriel. The development management of the project is carried out by under the authority of
the Local government of San Gabriel
The architect will be the backbone of all construction, ensuring that the project is
properly planned and designed. The architect's role will be limited to participating in all
construction related to the proposal.
The contractor will complete all project construction work; the proponent and the
contractor will negotiate the contract. The architect, project manager, engineer, construction

in the project's construction.

The author, Jia Faye Kristia C. Honorio , was born on the 17th day of
November 1997. She is the Eldest Daughter among 3 children of Mr. Jimmy Honorio
and Mrs. Flordeliza Honorio of barangay Poblacion , San Gabriel LA Union. She is
an elementary graduate student from Holy Angels Montessori in San Juan La Union ,
and Highschool graduate from San Louis College year 2010- 2014, where her skills
began to develop. She enters her college in the year 2014 at Saint louis College to
take up bachelor of Science in Architecture .
She is an active member of united Architects of the Philippines Student

Auxiliary (UAPSA) from freshmen to senior year . She also attended seminars both
local and national like Anthology Architecture and Desig Festival in 2019 at
Intramuros , manila and some school seminars related to Architecture.The first part
of the journey was not easy experiencing college life having too many tasks given ,
although she tried her best to accomplish all of these by the encouragement of her
dedication and aspirations .
With all these things she experienced in her journey in Saint Louis College ,
the warmest she told herself sincerely , and it would be imparted from her fellow
students and instructors.
