DENSITY-NEUTRON X-PLOT
∗ The point could be a mixture of
calcite and dolomite, since it lies Shale
between those lithology lines. Anhydrite
Because it lies closer to the Salt
calcite line, it is assumed to have Coal
more calcite than dolomite. Sandstone
Limestone
Dolomite
∗ Assumed to have more calcite
(70%) than dolomite (30%)
“ Dolomitic Limestone??” based ∗
on the distance between the two
lines.

Compatible Scales
The standard scale is the “limestone compatible” where the neutron
porosity scale is:
To fit this, the density log has to have its zero limestone point (2.7 g/cc)
on the same position as the neutron porosity zero and the range of the
scale has to fit the neutrons 60 porosity units hence the scale is:

PRESSURE Gradient ANALYSIS
• GDT = Gas Down To
• ODT = Oil Down To
• WUT = Water Up To
• GWC = Gas Water Contact
GOC • GOC = Gas Oil Contact
• OWC = Oil Water Contact
Pc • FWL = Free Water Level
TVDSS (ft)
Typical gradients
• Water – 0.433 psi/ft (1 g/cm3)
• Oil – 0.3 psi/ft (0.7 g/cm3)
FWL = OWC
• Gas – 0.05-0.15 psi/ft ( 0.12 - 0.35 g/cm3)
Applications
• Use pressure gradients to interpret fluid type
• HAFWL
• Describes compartmentalization
