Module in Safety and First Aid: Name: - Date

The document discusses various fitness tests and assessments that can be used to evaluate an individual's physical fitness, health status, and body composition. It describes tests that measure agility, cardiovascular endurance, aerobic fitness, and body composition. Equipment for assessing agility includes cones, hurdles etc. Cardiovascular endurance can be evaluated by measuring resting heart rate and maximal oxygen consumption. Aerobic exercises like cycling, swimming, and running provide health benefits like reduced risk of diseases. Body composition can be analyzed by measuring fat percentage and fat-free mass using techniques like BMI, skinfolds, bioelectrical impedance etc.

Cardiovascular endurance

Cardiovascular endurance- is the ability of; the heart, the blood, the blood
vessels, the respiratory system to provide the required oxygen and fuel to the
muscles for carrying on a particular exercise for specific period of time at a steady
rate.

Cardio-vascular endurance assessment

 Cardio-respiratory Endurance or Resting Heart Rate

- An Indicator of aerobic fitness and cardiac efficiency.

 Maximal Oxygen Consumption test

- To measure maximal oxygen consumption or VO2 max, an indication of an
individual’s cardiovascular fitness.
- To determining appropriate maximum heart rate in fitness assessment
should also take into account blood pressure.
Aerobic fitness
The main goal of any aerobic exercise is to provide an increased amount of oxygen
to the body.

Aerobic exercise involved three specific types of exercise including:

 Cycling

 Swimming

 and Running
