Abstract
To begin with, in this paper, the displacement governing equations and the
boundary conditions of nonsymmetrical large deflection problem of circular thin plates
are derived. By using the transformation and the perturbation method, the nonlinear
displacement equations are linearized, and the approximate boundary value problems
are obtained. As an example, the nonlinear bending problem of circular thin plates
subjected to comparatively complex loads is studied.

Key words plate, displacement, nonlinear, transformation, perturbation

method

I. Introduction
The nonsymmetrical large deflection problem of circular thin plates is a quite difficult
problem. In 1961, Fife began to study this problem t~l . In 1964, Srubchik considered the same
problem, too ~2~- . In 1982, Professor Jiang Fu-ru made research on this problem L3.4.5~ . We also
have done some work by using modified iteration method t6~ . All researches done before are to
solve nonlinear coupling equations described by the deflection and the stress function. The
boundary conditions are much simplified, and the boundary conditions in the plane are given
by the form of integration. So far, we have not found any research on the nonsymmetrical
large deflection problem of circular thin plates under the general boundary conditions. In this
paper, by considering the displacements as the fundamental unknowns, the nonlinear equations
and the general boundary conditions of the nonsymmetrical large deformation bending
problem of circular thin plates are derived in terms of displacements, and the method for
solving the problem is given in the concrete.

V. Conclusion

It can be seen from the above discussion that when the plate is subjected to the loads
varying in terms of cosine along 0 direction, there exist only cosinoidal terms and no
sinusoidal term in the expansion of w. It can be derived by turning the coordinates adopted in
this paper by 90 ~ that when the plate is subjected to the loads varying in terms of sine along
O direction, there exist only sinusoidal terms and no cosinoidal term in the expansion of w.
Calculating by using the results of this paper, it can be observed that the position of the
maximum deflection in plate varies with the value of the loads varying.
