Last semester's holiday, I visited my cousin in Jakarta. She took me to see Kota Intan Bridge or Diamond
City Bridge. This bridge was built from iron and wood in 1628 by the Dutch Colonial Government.

The name of the bridge changed several times. The bridge was first called Engelse Burg or "Bridge of
England" because of the stronghold of British troops on the east of the bridge.

Between 1628 and 1629 the bridge was once damaged due to the attacks of Banten and Mataram
troops. It was then rebuilt by the Dutch VOC in 1630 and renamed it "Chicken Market Bridge" or
Hoenderpasarburg because of the chicken market across the bridge.

Later in 1655 the bridge was named Het Middelpunt Burg or "Bridge Center" when it was restored using
stones due to floods. During the reign of Queen Juliana, this bridge ever renamed the Queen Juliana
Bridge as it underwent repairs under her patronage. After the Proclamation of Indonesian
Independence, the bridge was renamed the Kota Intan Bridge in accordance with the name of the recent
location.

One night, the villagers living by the southern coast of Temasek were awakened by the howling winds
and crashing waves. The dark clouds blocked out the lights of the moon and stars, turning the world into
complete darkness. It was as though the Island of Temasek would be engulfed by the raging sea. The
terrified villagers sank on their knees in prayers.

During this moment, a bright light was observed emerging from the southern waters. A massive
creature, half lion and half fish, roared in anger. The battle between the fierce mystical animal and
nature was intense, as the sky was filled with flashing lightning. The villagers had never witnessed such a
terrifying phenomenon before.

After some time, the winds began to die down, the waves subsided, and the sky started to clear. The
gigantic sea beast had won the battle against nature. As it claimed its victory, it stood proudly on Mount
Imbiah of Pulau Belakang Mati (Sentosa). By morning, the merlion had retreated into its waters, leaving
behind a bright colorful trail.

Notbroken

(By Goo Goo Dolls)

All I waited for

Was a chance to make you understand?

And tell you these forgotten truths

You never thought were real
And if the world should turn its back
You know that I'm still here

Time won't ever steal my soul

And we're not broken so please come home

Morning comes and life moves on

And when it changed you didn't know you belong

And I'll still catch you when you fall

Through a past that steals your sleep
And scroll these words upon your wall
Remind you to believe

Time won't ever steal my soul

We're not broken so please come home
And if the world has worn you down
I'll be waiting so please come home

Once upon a time, a mother and her two daughters lived in a humble house near the woods in
Minahasa. They were poor and lived from what nature gave them.

One day, the two girls couldn't get food after searching for hours. So, they went deeper into the woods.
However, they still couldn't get any. Tired, they decided to rest under a big tree. They talked to each
other about how they wished to have something to eat.

Not so long after, the two girls decided to get up and continued their search for food. Suddenly, a
banana fell from the tree above, followed by other fruits. The girls were surprised and curious where the
fruits came from. They heard a bird chirping 'keke kow...." It was the sound of kekekow bird. The bird
knew about the girls' problem and brought them food. The girls were grateful to the bird. The bird then
helped them whenever they couldn't find food.

The news about the bird had finally reached the nearby village. The villagers were envious of the mother
and her two daughters. Then, they captured the kekekow bird. They hoped that the bird would give
them what they wanted. However, the bird did no such thing.
[20.47, 15/5/2022] Said Ahmad: The villagers were angry and kept the bird in a cage. Soon, the bird fell
ill and died.

The girls heard about what had happened to the kekekow bird, and decided to bury the bird in the
woods near their house. Miraculously, a big tree grew from the bird's grave. It was a magical tree that
never stopped bearing fruits. The mother and her two daughters were surprised as well as grateful to
the bird. They would never worry about food again.
