WEEK 9 REPORTING

DECATHLON

 Decathlon an athletic contest comprising then different track and field events and
won by the contestant amassing the highest total score. The decathlon is a summer
sporting event that consists of ten track and field’s events over two days. Decathlete

 Michel lecl-ercg (born 1938) is a French billionaire businessman. He is the founder
and 40% owner of decathlon. With over 1647 stores in 57 countries and regions
(January 2020) it is the largest sporting goods retailer in the world.
 The training regime of a decathlete is extremely physically demanding and for that
reason many people actually consider decathletes to be the best of all athletes in the
world.
 Decathlon, athletic competition lasting two consecutive days in which contestants
participate in 10 track-and-field events. It was introduced as a three-day event at the
1912 Olympic Games
 The traditional modern decathlon includes the 100-meter dash, long jump, shot put,
high jump and 400 meter running race on the first day, 110meter hurdles rad, discus
throw, pol vault, javelin throw, 1,500 meter running race the second way. The
athlete who competes in decathlon are called decathletes. They are often considered
the world best all-around athletes due to their versability and skill in multiple
sports.

TRIATHLON

 The triathlon is a summer sporting events that consist of three events that occurs
sequentially one after another with no break. Triathlon is an endurance multi-sport
race consisting of swimming cycling and running over various. Triathlon compete
for fastest overall completion time, racing each segment sequentially with the time
transitioning between the disciplines included.
 The swim start is the most chaotic and unpredictable aspect of the whole race. After
the starter pistol fires, everyone piles into the water simultaneously, jockeying for
position. If you're unsure of yourself, or just not a strong swimmer, it may be best
to start towards the back or outside of the pack.
 Triathlon is a three-sport athletic competition involving swimming, cycling, and
running. Triathlon is an endurance sport and athletes train in all three disciplines
developing increased physical fitness and cardiovascular benefits. Swimming is the
most important predictor discipline in Sprint- and Olympic-distance triathlon,
cycling in IM 70.3, and running in IM 140.6.
 On average, you will swim 1/2 mile (750 meters), bike for 12.4 miles (20K), and
run for 3.1 miles (5K). Depending on your fitness level, course conditions, and the
weather on race day, you can expect to complete these three legs in about 1.5 hours.
 Swimming is an individual or team racing sport that requires the use of one’s entire
body to more through water, the sport takes place in pools or open water.
 Cycling sport is competitive physical activity using bicycles. There are several
categories of bicycle racing including road bicycle racing, cyclo-cross, mountain
bike racing, track cycling, BMX, and cycle speedway. Non-racing cycling sports
include artistic cycling, cycle polo, freestyle BMX and mountain bike trials
 Running is a method of terrestrial locomotion allowing humans and other animals
to move rapidly on foot. Running is a type of gait characterized by an aerial phase
in which all feet are above the ground.
 Do you eat during a triathlon? Sip a light electrolyte drink every 5-7 mins. Your
target is approximately 16 ounces of fluid (one big bottle) every hour! Every 20 -
30 mins eat a 70-90 calorie snack. Small snacks like dried fruits, energy bars or
energy gels will be both nutritious and easy to carry!

WALKING EVENTS

 There were three race walking events in the 2020 Summer Olympics: a men's and a
women's 20 kilometers walk, and a men's 50 kilometers walk. The races were held
in a final-only format. The first men's events came at the 1908 London Olympics,
which featured 3500 m and 10-mile distances.
 Athletics is a wide collection of sporting events that are comprised of different
physical activities like walking, jumping, running, and throwing. There are various
types of events in Athletics- Sprints, long jump, triple jump, Relay races, and
throwing events are the major ones 20km walk event
 The men's event was introduced in 1956 and the women's event started more
recently at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Though the men's race has had a lot of
parity, the women's event, in its short history has belonged to the Russians who
have won the gold medals in the last two Olympics, 2012 and 2008.
 Chen Ding of China holds the current men's Olympic record at 1:18:46 set during
the 2012 London Olympics. Elena Lashmanova from Romania holds the women's
record at 1:25:02, which is also the current world record, set at the 2012 London
Games.
 50km walk event The 50km walk event was introduced into the Olympics in 1932.
Robert Korzeniowski, who won the gold medal in three consecutive Olympics,
1996, 2000 and 2004, is the most notable athlete of the event. No other man has
won the gold medal more than once. Sergey Kirdyapkin of Russia holds the current
Olympic record of 3:35:59 set at the 2012 London Games.

MARATHON

 History the event is named after the legendary 26-mile run made by a Greek soldier
called Philippines (also known as Pheidippides) from the scene of the battle of
Marathon to Athens, where he announced the defeat of the invading Persians.
 In 2018, the number of worldwide marathon finishers was. The most obvious
reasons why people run them are the positive health and effects. While some people
worry about the harms you can do to your body if unprepared, the overall health
benefits tend to significantly outweigh any risks with proper training.
 anyone can run a marathon, literally anyone, if they follow a proper training
program and even more, most people can probably predict their finish time within
10 minutes if they train diligently.
 The 26.2-mile marathon is a challenging running event because of its duration.
After two hours of running (by the 20-mile mark for fast runners), the body runs out
of carbohydrates and glycogen (stored energy in the muscles) and begins burning
fat stores in the body for fuel.
 A footrace run on an open course usually of 26 miles 385 yards (42.2
kilometers) broadly: a long-distance race. An endurance contests. Something (such
as an event, activity, or session) characterized by great length or concentrated
effort.
