RO M E G U I D E
Travel Rome as if I was with
you. Because I am.
I am so excited that you have decided to visit Rome, the
Eternal City, as well as my homeland. This is my favorite city
in the whole wide world and I have the unique perspective
of being born and raised here, as well as someone who now
travels to the city frequently as a visitor. Over the years I’ve
curated some of the best tips, food recommendations, and
insider secrets to making your stay in Rome delightful.

First things first, let’s talk about neighborhoods. My favorite

area to book accommodations in is the Campo Marzio
section of Rome. This neighborhood is conveniently located
in the historic city center. Here you can see layers upon
layers of archaeological styles, where ancient temples and
apartment buildings coexist shoulder to shoulder alongside
Renaissance churches and Baroque mansions. In terms
of must-see monuments in this area, I suggest visiting the
Pantheon, the Spanish steps and the Trevi Fountain. From
this area, you can easily walk to the Roman Forums and the
Colosseum, the largest amphitheater ever built in the world.

One of the things I love most about this area is the

accessibility. It’s predominantly a pedestrian area and you
can pretty much walk everywhere. This gives you a great
opportunity to explore and burn off all those calories from
the food and gelato!

If you are feeling up for it you can take a nice long walk
from here to the river Tiber, cross the beautiful bridges into
Trastevere (where you’ll find nightlife, restaurants, and street
artists) or visit Castel Sant’Angelo and the Vatican. I love to
roam the Roman streets at night, Rome lit up with the moon
shining on the river Tiber is a MUST. It’s beautiful - Just like
you are!

Villa Borghese and Villa Pamphili are secret gems in the

middle of Rome, almost unknown to outsiders. Acres
and acres of park, fountains, and beautiful architecture
that’s perfect for families with kids and last-minute
picnics!

A popular thing with my kids is the Ancient Rome tour.

They are familiar with this because sooner or later
you learn about Ancient Rome and want to go see the
Colosseum!

Campo de’ Fiori Mercato Trionfale

One of the oldest farmer’s markets in the area. Another covered market. Slightly out of reach for a tourist but

Castelli Romani.

Castelli Romani On Vespa

Do as the Romans do and head outside the city walls! You

will ride on the back of Scooteroma’s Vespas as you ride
through the breathtaking countryside just south of Rome. Zip
past Ancient Roman history such as ruins and roads dating
back to BC alongside majestic, Renaissance villas. No Italian
experience is complete without a foodie pit stop. You’ll taste
all the local favorites like porchetta’ seasoned pork, regional
cheeses, locally baked bread, and the typical wine. This
experience’s grand finale is when we cruise to the charming
town of Frascati!

Ostia Antica

Easy to get to if you take the little train from Ostiense. You can
either meet a guide directly at the Scavi (ancient ruins) or
explore on your own. I always recommend visiting here if you
cannot get to Pompeii.

Absolutely amazing ruins with 50% fewer people than

Pompeii.
