Probability of A Simple Event
Probability of A Simple Event
I. Objectives
At the end of the session, the student should be able to:
1. Define the probability of simnple event
2. Solve the problem involving probability of a simple event
3. Find the probability of simple events.
4. Show sportsmanship by participating in a group activity.
B. ACTIVATE: Activity #1
Each group must complete the step by step directions to do the activity in 10 minutes.
Scores of the group will be based on a scoring rubric.
Each group have a designated room in kumospace application to meet the members and
discuss on how they will do the activity to answers the following questions.
Colored balls
A fun, hands-on probability activity for the students that involves constructing an area
model to serve as a visual representation of a scenario involving ball!
Materials: Cartolina, markers, ruler, scotch tape, plastic cups/containers, assorted colored
small balls or marbles.
Directions:
1.) Label one cup as “Container 1” and a second cup as “Container 2.”
2.) Get 2 purple and 1 orange candy and put them into Container 1. Then, put the orange,
pink, purple and green candy into Container 2.
3.) Construct a large square on your cartolina.
4.) Using your markers, label the left column of the square “Container 1” and the top column
of your square “Container 2.”
5.) Use a marker to complete your area model by creating 3 rows and 4 columns since
there are 3 choices in Container 1 and 4 choices in Container 2.
6.) Fill in each box inside the area model using capital letters to represent each
combination. For example, RY would represent choosing Red first and Yellow second.
7.) Move onto the challenge questions on the next page once you have completed your
area model.

Guided Questions:
1. Identify the capital letter abbreviations for each of the following outcomes:
a. Purple First, Blue Second: ___________
b. Purple First, Orange Second: __________
c. Orange First, Orange Second: __________
2. After building your area model, identify the TOTAL number of possible outcomes there
are in this scenario. There are ________ possible outcomes in total because…
a. __ out of __
b. __ out of ___
c. __ out of __
Analysis
1. How many outcomes are there in a Punnet square?
2. Were you able to formulate and solve practical problems involving probability of
simple events?
3. How can you define the probability of an event?
Pose question: “If a pregnant woman will give birth to a child, what is the probability that the
child is a male?” (Ask the learners about the chance or the probability that the event will occur.)
Based on those questions/ activities that you have done, what do you think would be our
lesson today?
C. Lesson Proper:
The probability of simple events is finding the probability of a single event occurring.
When finding the probability of an event occurring, we will use the formula: number of
favorable outcomes over the number of total outcomes.
number of favirable outcomes n( E)
P ( E )= =
number of possible outcomes n(S)
Can you give an example or scenario that you can use probability?
To further understand the probability of a simple event, the students will group again and meet
on their designated room in kumospace application.
Each group would have a task to do base on the given to their team to understand
deeply the lesson and every group should answer the problem given to them.
Group 1:
Learners will watch a video explaining the definition and how to solve the probability of a
simple event.

Problem: A circle is divided into 12 equal parts to form a spinner. When the pointer is
spun, what is the probability that it will stop at
a. Number 7?
Group 2:
Learners will see a pictures that explain the probability of a simple event.

Problem: A class has 18 boys and 9 girls. What is the probability that a randomly
selected student is a girl?
Group 3:
Teacher will give a notes of probability of a simple event, so by using this the students
will attain the objectives of the lesson for today.
Problem: A deck of cards contains cards numbered from 1 to 81. If a card is picked at
random, what is the probability of picking a card with a number that is divisible by 5?
A representative of each group will share their answer on what is probability of a simple
event and how to solve this.
Individual would make an at least two examples of scenario that applying the probability
of a simple event. Show the answers and solution.
IV. ASSESSMENT
Application:
Using the nearpod application, the teacher will give a scenario and the student should
answer this in the board of nearpod.
Nearpod application is an app that can type or draw the answers of the students. Each
board of the learners could monitor by the teacher simultaneously. So that, the teacher can
see, who student is struggling to answer and students understands the lessons but the but
the student could not see the board of his/her classmate to avoid cheating.
Given:
1. A basket contains a 5 black and 7 yellow marbles. One marble is drawn at random.
What is the probability to get black marbles?
2. The probability of 3 rolling on a die.
3. The probability of getting a head in tossing a coin.
Evaluation:
Using quizizz application the students should answer the questions that will show on
their screen. After clicking the link, the students should type their name for record and press
start.
