Definitions
Visual Condition at Retail
Excellent - Berries are full color, uniform in size, have unblemished bloom and are very well attached to the stems (no shatter).
The cluster(s) rachis and stems are fresh and dark green. Berries have no visible defects (e.g., mold, scarring, wetness).
Good - Berries are virtually full color (may have slight lack of color near cap stem, or slight ambering/yellowing on green varieties),
mostly uniform in size, have nearly unblemished bloom and are well attached to the stems (only slight shatter). The cluster(s)
rachis and stems are green to fairly green. Berries may have minor visible defects (e.g., scarring, bruising, softness).
Fair - Berries may have variable color and size, have blemished bloom and are not well attached to the stem (moderate shatter
and/or loosely attached berries). The cluster(s) rachis and stems are fairly green to partial brown. Berries have some visible
defects (e.g., decay, wetness, cracking, raisining, bruising, softness).
Poor - Berries have variable color, are not uniform in size, have significantly blemished/rubbed bloom and are loosely attached to
the stem (moderate to heavy shatter). The cluster(s) rachis and stems are partial brown to brittle/dry. Berries have many visible
defects (e.g., mold/mildew, decay, cracking, raisining, sunburned, bruising, softness, wetness).
Methodology
The Global Market Report is compiled from information gathered by the California Table Grape Commission (commission)
international marketing representatives who are responsible for submitting semi-monthly reports to the commission on the
movement of fresh table grapes in their market(s). The information is generally gathered during the two week period prior to the
report distribution date. Only markets with California grapes at retail are included. Variety names are reported when they can be
verified.
To receive this report by email, please contact us at info@grapesfromcalifornia.com or call 559-447-8350. The Global Market
Report can also be viewed online in the Grower & Shipper section of grapesfromcalifornia.com.
