It seems that you have a clear understanding of our previous lesson. That means we
can now move on to our new lesson. Are you ready?
Motivation
This morning, I will show you a picture on the screen. I would like you to take a
look at it now. What is the first thing you see as you look at this illustration?
a. lips?
b. trees?
c. roots?
After the song is played. It will be once again played as the members of the class
sing. After singing, they will be asked to do think pair share. Some volunteers will be
called too to share their thoughts.
D. Discussing new This morning, we will be reading an interesting parable titled, “The Parable of the
concept and Rainbow Colors” by Juan M. Flavier. Do you know who Juan M. Flavier is?

#1 Juan Martin Flavier (June 23, 1935 – October 30, 2014.
He was a former secretary of the Department of Health and a former Senator.
He was born in Tondo Manila but flew to Baguio City where he finished his
elementary and secondary education.
He attended medical school at the University of the Philippines and graduated in 1960.
He wrote a regular newspaper column about his experiences as a doctor in the
countryside while serving as Health Secretary.
Many Filipino literary works are authored by Flavier, including Doctor in the Barrios,
wherein he narrates his experiences working with and for the Philippine Rural
Reconstruction Movement.
Before we proceed to the reading of his parable, let us have first the unlocking of
difficulties.
1. Theater critics have been denigrating her acting ability which hurt her so much.
Remember these words as you listen to the parable you are going to watch. I will also
be providing you a copy of the parable so you would be guided. On the screen are the
questions you have to answer as you watch the short video clip.

After watching, the teacher will ask what a parable is. She will summarize the
students’ responses by saying, “A parable is a succinct, didactic story, in prose or
verse which illustrates one or more instructive lessons or principles”.
The video will be processed by answering the following questions:
1. who are the characters in the story?
2. What happened to the colors in the sky?
3. How is the change relevant to the existence of each of the colors?
4. What do you feel when you see a rainbow?
5. Why do you think the rain emphasized the need for cooperation?
To process the questions, the teacher will divide the class into five and each group
will be given one question to answer which will not be simply answered. They may
choose from radio broadcasting, talk show, question and answer portion of the
pageant, or in any way where they could creatively and informatively respond to the
question they picked.
They will be evaluated by the rubric to be presented by the teacher before each
group presents their answer.
Each presentation will be checked, processed, and evaluated. The teacher will share
the good and the not so good points of each presentation as rooms for improvement.
F. Finding practical In life, we really have different perceptions and opinions about things. What would
applications of you consider your significant learning from today’s lesson? Start your answer with I

I believe my greatest take away from today’s lesson is about valuing individual
differences. We are different from one another. We have different experiences and
these experiences shaped us and made us different from one another. #acceptance

G. Making The teacher will ask the class to reflect and share their opinions about the following
generalizations and questions lifted from the parable. All students will be called even those who are not
abstractions about raising their hands to encourage everyone to express their thoughts.

The teacher will make sure that all students are able to express themselves based on
the material viewed. Students who can hardly express themselves will be helped to
encourage them to share their ideas.
