Teacher Resty G. Tanoy Learning Area Science
Time & Dates FEBRUARY 2, 2022 Quarter 2 (Week 8)
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate an understanding of the organisms interacting with
each other and with their environment to survive
B. Performance Standards The learners shall be able to conduct a collaborative action to preserve the
ecosystem in the locality
C. Learning Competencies/ describe the different ecological relationships found in an ecosystem;
Objectives ( Write the code (S7LT-IIh-10)
for each LC)
D. Specific Objective 1. Identify the different ecological relationships of an ecosystem;
2. Explain each ecological relationship found in an ecosystem;
3. Explain the importance of maintaining good relationship to others
E. Related Subject / Topic English, MAPEH, Math, ESP, AP
II. CONTENT SYMBIOTIC ECOLOGICAL RELATIONSHIP
III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References

1. Teacher’s Guide Pages pp.109-114

2. Learner’s Material Pages pp.115-119
3. Textbook Pages
4. Additional Materials Science 7 module 7 Q2
from LR Portal
B. Other Learning Resources
IV. PROCEDURE
A. Reviewing previous lesson or Elicit
presenting the new lesson Student will identify the given component of ecosystem as to biotic or
abiotic.

1. Rock
2. Plant
3. dog
4. water
5. human

Guide question
1. How biotic and abiotic differs from each other?
B. Establishing a purpose for Engage
the lesson
Creating food chain
Students will create a food chain based on the given biotic and abiotic
C. Presenting examples/ component of ecosystem
instances of the new lesson

Guide questions:
1. What happens if one of the organisms in the chain disappears?
2. How do organisms interact with each other?

Unlocking term
Symbiosis - act of living together

D. Discussing new concepts Explore

and practicing new skills#1
Students will assign description to each symbiotic relationship to complete
the graphic organizer.

Guide questions:
1. What are the kinds of symbiosis?
2. How will you determine the relationship of organisms?

E. Discussing new concepts Explain

and practicing new skills #2 Students will explain the relationship of organisms based on the provided
F. Developing Mastery picture and determine which organism is harm, not harm, benefited or not
benefited.

What are the organisms involved based on the picture?

What ecological relationship does it belong? Why?
Which of the two organisms benefited?
Is the flower being harmed by the butterfly?

NOTE TO REMEMBER:
Health is wealth
Mosquitoes are harmful to humans and can cause dengue or malaria. Aside
from mosquitoes, there are other parasites that can affect our health just like
the COVID-19 VIRUS thus, we have to take good care of ourselves by
observing the health standards. Although most of us are already vaccinated,
still we have to observe social distancing, wear mask and face shield, and
wash hands frequently especially there is now a variant called OMICRON.

Essential question:
How will you maintain the good relationship to others especially in this time
of pandemic?

In this time of pandemic, maintaining the good relationship to others is more

important than anything. This can be attained by respecting everyone’s
decision, helping one another and also abiding the health standards given by
the authorities.
G. Finding practical applications Elaborate
of concepts and skills in daily
living Students will provide imoji or facial expression based on the given
ecological relationship.

LEGENDS

Harmed benefited not harmed

1. Mutualism

2. Commensalism

3. Parasitism

Note: imoji’s or facial expression can be used in determining ecological

relationship because it also represents emotions. There are different kinds of
emotions depending on one’s feeling. It could be happy, sad, confused,
surprised and etc.

H. Making generalization and

abstraction about the lesson Students will provide mathematical operations on each organism depending
the ecological relationship it belongs.

Organism A Organism Relationship

Benefits (+) Unaffected (0) commensalism
Benefits (+) Benefits (+) mutualism
Benefits (+) Affected (-) Parasitism

Guide questions:
1. What are the different kinds of symbiosis?
2. How will you describe each ecological relationship in an ecosystem?

I. Evaluating Learning Evaluate

Directions: Identify the ecological relationship of the following situation
below:
1. The butterfly is drinking the nectar of a flower. The flower gets pollinated
(the butterfly brings pollen from other flowers) and the butterfly gets a tasty
meal.
2. This moray eel has a small fish cleaning between its teeth. The eel gets a
clean mouth while the cleaner fish gets a nice meal.
3. As these cattle walk around eating grass they stir up lots of insects. The
egrets hang around and get a yummy meal of insects.
4. This worm infects human the blood stream and gets a nice warm safe
home there. The human may go blind or have other complications as a result.

J. Additional activities for Extend

application or remediation Look for interactions among organism in your locality and classify them as to
what symbiotic relationship do they belong. Research the two kinds of non-
symbiotic relationship and study in advance.
V. REMARKS
VI. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who earned
80% on the formative
assessment
B. No. of learners who require
additional activities for
remediation
C. Did the remedial lesson
work?
D. No. of learners who
continue to require
remediation
E. Which of my teaching
strategies worked well? Why
did these work?
F. What difficulties did I
encounter which my
principal or supervisor can
help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized
materials did I use/ discover
which I wish to share with
other teachers?
