In the era of technological advancement, artificial intelligence (AI) and technology have been
increasingly applied in our daily life and the economy. It also becomes one of the most pressing
societal controversies since it may both positively and negatively affect contemporary society. “The
impact of artificial intelligence on consumers’ identity and human skills” by Pelau, Ene and Pop (2021)
elucidates the impacts of AI on economic growth and human life. Another article “Robots and
Organization Studies: Why Robots Might Not Want to Steal Your Job” by Fleming (2019) focuses
more narrowly on the impact of robots on employment. Both articles make a useful contribution to the
In the research report “The impact of artificial intelligence on consumers’ identity and human
skills”, Pelau, Ene and Pop (2021) conducted a survey via questionnaire which concludes that the
benefits of AI surpass its drawbacks; however, people still should be aware of its impacts in the future.
Moreover, they also analyze whether the social circle can influence the perception of losing consumers’
identity while using AI. As a result, they can present a suitable mediation model between AI and the

consumers’ identity and human skills. Results confirm all of the authors’ 4 hypotheses about the
influence of AI and the social circle on the economy and human’s identity and its mediation model. In
conclusion, the authors claim that AI brings more positive impacts rather than negative ones on
contemporary society. Finally, they give some recommendations which help AI and technology can be
Different from the aforementioned article, a paper by Fleming (2019) named “Robots and
Organization Studies: Why Robots Might Not Want to Steal Your Job” mainly focuses on the
relationship between robots and joblessness. He argues that despite the significant development of AI
and computerization, jobs have still not disappeared, especially poorly paid and low-skilled jobs.
Moreover, he also emphasizes “bounded automation” and “public organization studies” as the two most
crucial terms in his article which show the relationship between organization and employment as well
as pressing public controversies. In the end, he gives some possible solutions to counter the negative
“The impact of artificial intelligence on consumers’ identity and human skills” is possibly
beneficial for not only large organizations but also individuals to precisely understand the impacts of
AI on different aspects of life. As there is a logical structure with specific titles in this article, readers
can easily read and follow all information and details. Moreover, this article is based on a survey with
an enrollment of 740 people of all ages, which makes it more reliable and convincing. However, the
authors use excessive technical jargon and formulas in the results section. Perhaps, it would have been

easier for readers to completely understand if they had given more interpretations about those technical
In contrast, Fleming’s article seems to be more suitable for experts and organizations than
individuals or employees. In his paper, Fleming thoroughly discusses the development of AI and robots
in contemporary society, its effects on employment and suggestions for organizations but it lacks
specific solutions for individuals and employees. It would have been better if he had given more
practical recommendations for individuals and employees to at least keep their current jobs. In
addition, similar to the article above, it is difficult to comprehend because the author uses too much
technical jargon without explanation throughout the article. Despite all the limitations, the information
in this article is relevant and reliable since Fleming puts forth a diverse range of references from
different researchers.
technological advancement and its influence on the economy and human life. The first article is helpful
to understand the impacts of AI on the economy and consumers’ self-identity and skills. However, the
authors should have used less technical jargon in the results section. For an insight into robots and its
influence on employment, readers may tend to read the Fleming’s paper, but there is still a lack of
