Part B: Reading
I. Read the article and choose the correct answer a, b or c.
One of our suppliers is trialling the use of drones for delivery. Several 1 arrived at the
office this morning delivered by drones but a couple of them were badly 2 as the drone
carrying them dropped them too soon. I don’t know if it was a(n) 3 error or a software
problem, but it could have landed on someone so it is a dangerous delivery method. In addition,
goods have to be 4
packed so that they are not damaged during delivery. Although it would be a great way to avoid
traffic 5 in busy city centres, there are still too many problems which need to be overcome
before drones can be used.
We still use a bike 6 service to take things around the city and it works very well. When
we deliver items to customers, we often use collection 7 , which are a very popular way of
saving time for both the company and the customer. The 8 of delivery systems does,
however, raise serious 9 for both customers and suppliers. When things go wrong, there
may not always be someone on site to deal with the situation. Nevertheless, it is inevitable that
technological developments will play a part in 10 distribution in the future.
