Students should select a topic, take a short time to prepare and then present an unmemorized
speech which fully covers all aspects of the topic.
1. Our parents greatly influence our personalities. Which personality traits do you
share with your father and mother? What makes you different from them? Who has
had more of an impact on you, your mother or your father? Explain.
2. “Look before you leap” is a popular saying. Is it important to think before you
act in every situation?
3. Parents often have certain expectations of their children regarding their
education, career, and life choices. Do you think it is more important to listen to your
parents or follow your heart?
4. Drop a spoon and expect a visitor! Many cultures have their own set of
superstitions which they take very seriously. Explain some superstitions which exist
in your culture and give examples.
