IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or 1. Solving for Perimeter and Area
presenting the new lesson Draw a rectangle or square with the given measurement below then solve for
perimeter or area.
1. 5 cm
2. 8 c m and 4 cm
3. 10 cm and 2 cm
2. Review the previous lesson.
Before the teacher presents the problem, she will ask; If you owe money to
your friend what would you do to earn his or her trust?
Alicia owes Php200 to each of 4 friends. How much money does she owe?
B. Establishing a purpose for Look at the aquarium and the wooden box. Which of these two objects can hold
the lesson water and if it can, which of them will take more amount of water? Explain.
Based on the illustration, the aquarium will take a greater amount of water as
compared to the wooden box because it has more space to hold more amount
of water.
In real life situation the wooden box cannot hold water unlike aquarium
because it can only be hold solid? These objects are examples of solid figures.
Look at the illustration of the box and try to answer the ff. question.
What is the shape of the bottom part of box? Is it the same with the shape of
the top part?
What is the right side of the box? Does it have same shape with the one on the
left side?
Do the back and front sides of the box have the same shape?
Objects in the real world are called three-dimensional if they have length,
width and height. In Mathematics, the three-dimensional objects are known as
solid figures.
D. Discussing new concepts and I have here a list of different spatial or solid figures.
practicing new skills #1
G. Finding practical applications Read each situation, give the object being asked then describe what particular
of concepts and skills in daily solid figure?
living Rico wants to have a water supply in their house, what is the first thing
to have?
Ana wants to know in what continent is Thailand included, what is the
thing Ana will look into aside from a map?
H. Making generalizations and What are the different spatial figures? Describe each one.
abstractions about the What are their common characteristics?
lesson Give examples of real life objects that represent each spatial figure.
I. Evaluating Learning a. Describe the solid figure that is represented by each real object
below. Write the name of the solid figure on the blank before
each number.
____________1. An ice cream cone
____________2. An orange
____________3. A coin
____________4. A soccer ball
____________5. A shoe box
b. Illustrate or draw the given figure.
____________1. cube
____________2. Pyramid
____________3. Cylinder
____________4. Cone
____________5. sphere
