COMMON ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION

In English, we have 3 categories of pronunciation. They are :


- Blended Sounds (a combination of consonant sounds)
- Diagraph Sounds (a combination of consonant sounds to create a completely new -
sound)
- Dipthongs (a combination of consonant & vowel sounds to create a completely new
sound)
* note : there are words that have exemptions to these rules, like ‘u’ in
‘busy’ (pronounced ‘i’) or ‘oe’ in ‘does’ (pronounced ‘a’)

Listen to the example voice note to familiarize yourself with blended sounds, then listen to the
second voice note to match the word with the type of sound below.
