Leapfrog Geo Model Building Process and Product

• Modeling Process:
• Import Data: Drillholes, Points, Structural data
• Data validation: fix errors, query filter, group domain, interval selection
• Create model: Geological model, structural model, numeric model
• Editing Surfaces: use polylines to control thickness, layer and control Leapfrog to follow the
Geology Interpretation
• Producing volumes: Build output volumes
• Outputs & Updating: export meshes to DXF format

• Example modeling product in Leapfrog:

• GRS-GBC Structural modeling and verification
• DMLZ Structural Modeling
• Rock Fabrics Regional Fault
• GBC and DMLZ Vein Modeling
• GTS
• Adonara

• The mesh triangulation model from Leapfrog then exported to dxf format and imported into
Vulcan.
• Check triangulation integrity: Closure, Consistency, Self Intersection.

Note: Data that have been modified inside Leapfrog are continue keep in Leapfrog project
format as a separate entity data and not reimporting again to acQuire database. 2

Structural Modeling Task Force GBC-GRS-DMLZ-DOZ
( UG Geology, GDM, GRS Geology, ENJ )
DOZ-DMLZ
Total of 275 faults have been generated with details as
follow:
1. 226 faults categorized as verified faults with 106 faults
at DMLZ Level, 97 faults at DOZ Level and 23 faults at
EESS Level (continuous and segmented).
2. 49 faults categorized as CONF5.

GBC
Total of 773 faults have been generated and No CONF1 or
CONF5 category in GBC

GRS
Total of 239 faults have been generated with details as
follow:
1. 222 verified faults interpreted and review in this Phase
2
2. 17 faults categorized as CONF1

Fault interpretation process are done in Leapfrog software

using combining data coming from:
1. Underground mapping
2. SRK mapping polylines if any
3. Core orienting of drill holes
4. Measured structure, gross structure and RQD of drill
holes

The mesh triangulation model already incorporated in

regional COWA Model.

Leapfrog Geo Pros

• Able to import drilling data from various sources: ASCII, ODBC, acQuire
• Easy user interface in QAQC data validation and fix errors
• Fast and dynamic update model directly from data.
• Quick prototyping and visualization.
• Flexible in fine tuning the model parameter and editing surfaces using global trend and
polylines.
• Easy to reload or append new data.
• Export-import file into Vulcan 00t/DXF into/from Leapfrog msh by using Leapfrog older
version 2.2, the older version is built by previous owner.
• Update database of drilling, UGT structure only by replace the files and refresh in Leapfrog
• For structural model (fault):
• Adaptive shape adjust by adding or removing structural data use.
• Quickly Boolean by mesh operation tools to set the kinematic of the faults

12
Leapfrog Geo Cons

• Leapfrog does not supported put workspace project in a shared network drive or One drive
folder.
• Need extra cost for license, cloud server/dedicated internal server on-premises, additional
administration work and need special person as administrator for workspaces project
sharing and collaboration via Leapfrog Central software product.
• Leapfrog has no scripting language features to automate and simplify the repetitive tasks.
• Compatibility and flexibility between Leapfrog software version.
• Need additional license cost ( Maptek Link ) for importing Vulcan 00t format, USD800/year.
• On-Demand Licenses required internet connection.
• Clients such as engineering or operation don’t use Leapfrog.

Current PTFI Leapfrog Geo License

• Total 3 On-Demand Licenses that can be used by up to 10 physical dongles.

• Distributed to UG Geology, GDM, GRS Geology and Exploration Geology.
• Maximum checkout period 24 hours / 1 day.
• Only for this year leapfrog have revoke on demand license only for Freeport,
so all physical dongles can be used simultaneously.
