SIDEWINDER AIM-9P-4/5 Integrated

Life-Cycle Management (ILCM)

The Sidewinder AIM-9 missile is a supersonic, air launched

guided missile employing passive infrared target detection.

Description
The Sidewinder AIM-9 was originally introduced in 1978 with upgrades to the
target detector and a new, reduced smoke SR116 rocket motor.

The missile comprises of following major components:

–– Warhead
–– Target Detector (TD/AOTD) or Influence

The Sidewinder AIM-9 missile remains in service in many countries around the
world. To ensure a safe, effective and reliable operation beyond its designed

Along with ATK, a teaming partner of RUAG Aviation, upgrade of Sidewinder

AIM-9P-3 to Sidewinder AIM-9P-4/5 and full service support for the Sidewinder
AIM-9P-4/5 major components can be offered, which ensures the extension of
the operational service life and the availability of an effective and lethal missile
weapon system beyond the year 2020.
