RIGGING ASSESMENT
CONTENT:
β
Considering the lifting points are symmetric to COG then;
Tension in sling = Load (t) x Length of sling (m) / Number of slings x Height of sling (m)
Tension in sling = Load (t)/ Number of sling x Sin (Angle of sling)
Things to be considered while using multiple leg slings arrangement
1- READ AND STUDY THE LIFTING DRAWINGS PREPARED BY COMPETENT LIFTING ENGINEER
3- MARK THE PLACE OF THE CRANE AND SUPERVISE PLACING THE CRANE AS PER THE APPROVED LIFTING DRAWINGS
5- CHECK THE THIRD PARTY CERTIFICATES OF LIFTING TACKLE AND ASSIGNED CRANES
6- MAKE SURE ALL LIFTING TACKLE AND EQUIPMENT PLACED IN A CORRECT AND SAFE CONDITION
7- CONDUCT A TOOL BOX MEETING BEFORE THE OPERATION AND EXPLAIN THE DUITES TO ALL INVOLVED SLINGERS /
HELPERS AND CRANE OPERATORS
8- BARRICATE THE LIFTING AREA AND MAKE SURE NO ONE IN THE LIFTING AREA EXCEPT THE ASSIGNED PEOPLE
10- IN CASE OF ANY NON CRITICAL LIFT (BELOW 25T / BELOW 85% OF CRANE CAPACITY) THE RIGGER SHOULD MAKE
THE CALCULATION FOR CAPACITIES OF REQUIRED SLINGS AS PER EXPLAINED IN PREVIOUS SLIDES.
Ground Bearing Pressure GBP
Ground Bearing Pressure GBP (t/m²) = (Weight of crane + Lifting Load) (t) / Packing Area Required (m²)
Packing Area Required (m²) = (Weight of crane + Lifting Load) (t) / GBP (t/m²)
