American International University- Bangladesh

Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering
EEE 4208: Electrical Service Design Lab

Title: Open Ended Lab

Introduction: After completing this experiment, student should be able to

 Understand industrial load calculations

Task: Find the total amount of load for D building 4 th Floor. For the calculation purpose see the attached file
with this lab manual.

Report: Fill up the Load Calculation Sheet.

Discussion:
Make discussion about the problems you have find during calculation.
Conclusion:
Summarize the experiment here and discuss whether the objectives were fulfilled or not within a short
paragraph.

General light, power SF x 3 volt-amperes = volt-amperes

Two kitchen appliance circuits @ 1,500 volt-amperes = 3,000 volt-amperes
Laundry circuits = 1,500 volt-amperes
Electric range (NP rating) = _ volt-amperes
Wall mounted oven (NP rating) = _ volt-amperes
Water heater (NP rating) = _ volt-amperes
Dishwasher (NP rating) = _ volt-amperes
Disposal (NP rating) = _ volt-amperes
Dryer (NP rating) = _ volt-amperes
Other _ = _ volt-amperes

Subtotal volt-amperes

Subtotal volt-amperes
10,000 volt-amperes (First 10 kilo volt-amperes @ 100%) = 10,000 volt-amperes
Difference volt-amperes (Remaining volt-amperes x 40%) = _ _volt-amperes

Heating and Air-Conditioning (The Largest of the following shall be included):

1. Air conditioning and cooling (100% NP rating) = _volt-amperes

2. Heat pump without supplemental heating (100% NP rating) = _volt-amperes

3. Heat pump with supplemental electric heating (100% NP rating plus 65%) = _volt-amperes

4. Electrical space heating < 4 separate units (65% NP rating) = _volt-amperes

5. Electrical space heating ≥ 4 separate units (40% NP rating) = _volt-amperes

6. Electrical thermal storage and other (100% NP rating) = _volt-amperes
