Mr. Omer, 24-year-old, is a first-year nursing student. He was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus when
he was 12. Currently, he takes 6 units act rapid insulin (short acting insulin) twice a day BID
Subcutaneously each morning Mr. Omer notices that he is urinating frequently, is thirsty, and has blurred
vision. He is also very tired but blames all his symptoms on working too much and studying for school.
He forgets to take his morning insulin and realizes he must have HYPERGLYCEMIA but decides that he
will be all right until he gets home in the afternoon. Around noon, he complains of abdominal pain, weakness,
and rapid pulse. What would you do?
