Sailesh Ucas Personal Statement

As a student who is applying for a computer science course, I am excited about the subject because
of the vast opportunities it presents for creativity and innovation. The field of computer science is
constantly evolving and offers a wide range of possibilities for individuals to make a difference in the
world through the development of new technologies and software. I am particularly drawn to the
field of game development, as it allows me to use my imagination and creativity to create immersive
and interactive experiences for players.
When I first became interested in computer science, I was fascinated by the endless possibilities that
it offered. I realized that computer science is not just about coding, but it's about creating solutions
to problems and improving people's lives. The thought of being able to develop software that can
make a difference in the world is what motivated me to pursue a career in this field. I believe that
computer science has the power to change the world and I want to be a part of that change.
In terms of my previous and current studies, I believe that they have been extremely relevant to the
course. I have taken several math and science classes that have provided me with a strong
foundation in logical thinking and problem-solving. These classes have helped me develop a good
understanding of fundamental concepts that are essential for computer science. Additionally, I have
also studied programming and have developed a strong understanding of basic coding concepts. I
have been working with languages such as Python, C++, and Java, and I have a good understanding
of Object-Oriented Programming concepts. I feel that my previous education has provided me with a
solid foundation for computer science and I am confident that I will be able to excel in the course.
In terms of work experience, I have had the opportunity to intern under Dr. Donald Bruce Campbell.
The experience was extremely valuable as I was able to learn about different aspects of software
development and gain hands-on experience. I was able to work on different projects and I was able
to develop a game using Unity and Python. This experience was valuable as I was able to apply the
concepts that I had learned in class to a real-world project. Furthermore, I was able to showcase the
game at the end of the program, and it was well received. This experience has helped me to
understand the practical applications of computer science and has motivated me to pursue a career
in the field.
In terms of life experiences, I have been involved in several community service projects such as
cleaning roads and awareness drives. These experiences have taught me the importance of
teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. Community service has taught me the importance
of helping others and the impact that small actions can have on the world. Additionally, I am proud
of my achievement in basketball where I was part of a team that came first place in an interschool
tournament. This experience has taught me the importance of teamwork, perseverance and the
importance of never giving up.
As for skills, I am proficient in Python, which I believe is a language that is widely used in computer
science. I have also developed a good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming concepts,
which are essential for computer science. Furthermore, I am passionate about game development,
which I believe would be a good fit for my future career. I am also open to exploring other areas of
computer science such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, which I find equally fascinating.
I believe that my skills in programming, problem-solving and my passion for game development will
make me a valuable asset to the computer science course.
My long-term ambition is to become a game developer and contribute to the development of

immersive and interactive experiences for players. I believe that the computer science course will
provide me with the necessary knowledge and skills to achieve this goal. The course will not only
help me develop my technical skills but also provide me with a deeper understanding of the industry
and its current trends. The course will also give me the opportunity to work on projects that will help
me gain hands-on experience and prepare me for a career in the field.
Overall, I am excited about the opportunity to study computer science because of the endless
possibilities it presents for creativity and innovation. The field of computer science is constantly
