The culture and traditions of the different regions in Central Visayas vary. However, some common
cultural practices in the region include the Sinulog Festival in Cebu, the Sandugo Festival in Tagbilaran,
and the Kaamulan Festival in Bukidnon. Additionally, many of the regions in Central Visayas have a
strong Catholic influence, with a number of religious festivals and celebrations taking place throughout
the year. Other traditional practices include the traditional dances, music, and cuisine of the various
ethnic groups in the region. The traditional way of life of the people in the region is also heavily
influenced by the agricultural activities, and many festivals and rituals revolve around the planting and
harvesting of crops.

square kilometres. They are covered in green grass that turns brown during the dry season,
hence the name.

flag and seal to symbolize the abundance of natural attractions in the province. They are in the
Philippine Tourism Authority's list of tourist destinations in the Philippines; they have been
declared the country's third National Geological Monument and proposed for inclusion in the

Fuerte de San Pedro is a military defense structure in Cebu, built by the Spanish under the

It is located in the area now called Plaza Independencia, in the pier area of the city. The original
fort was made of wood and built after the arrival of Legazpi and his expedition. In the early 17th
century a stone fort was built to repel Muslim raiders. Today's structure dates from 1738 and is
the oldest triangular bastion fort in the country. It served as the nucleus of the first Spanish
settlement in the Philippines. During the Philippine Revolution at the end of the 19th century, it
was attacked and taken by Filipino revolutionaries, who used it as a stronghold.

This cross is housed in a chapel next to the Basilica Menor del Santo Niño on Magallanes Street,
just in front of the city center of Cebu City. A sign below the cross states that the original cross is
encased inside the wooden cross made of tingalo wood. This is to protect the original cross from
people who chipped away parts of the cross for souvenir purposes in the belief that the cross
possesses miraculous powers. Some people, however, believe that the original cross has been
destroyed or disappeared after Magellan's death and the cross is a replica that was planted
there by the Spaniards after they successfully christianized the Philippines.

The Rajah Sikatuna Protected Landscape is a protected landscape area of forested limestone
hills, grasslands and natural springs in the island province of Bohol in the Central Visayas region
of the Philippines. It is the largest remaining tract of natural forest in Bohol and one of the
Philippines' top birdwatching sites. The park was initially gazetted a national park in 1987
covering approximately 9,023 hectares. In 2000, it was reestablished as a protected landscape
under the National Integrated Protected Areas System covering its present area of 10,452.6
hectares. The park is one of the island's major tourist attractions located just south of the
famous Chocolate Hills. It was named after the Bohol chieftain who entered into a blood-
compact with Spanish conquistador Miguel López de Legazpi on the island in 1565.
