Competency
. M10GE-IIh-1-2
At the end of the lesson the students will be able to;
a. To illustrate the center- radius form of the equation of the circle
D.Objectives
b. To determine the center and radius of a circle given its equation
and vise versa.

II. CONTENT
A. Topic Equation of a Circle
These are important terminologies, notations and symbols that you must
remember.

Equation of the circle where (h,k) is the center and r is the radius.

i) center is any point on the Cartesian plane: (𝒙 − 𝒉) ² + (𝒚 − 𝒌) ² = 𝒓 ²

B. Key Concepts ii) center is the origin on the Cartesian plane: 𝒙 ²+ 𝒚 ² = 𝒓 ²
Standard equation of a Circle: (𝒙 − 𝒉) ² + (𝒚 − 𝒌) ² = 𝒓 ²
General equation of a Circle obtained by expanding
(𝒙 − 𝒉) ²+ (𝒚 − 𝒌) ² = 𝒓 ²,
𝒙 ² + 𝒚 ² + 𝑫𝒙 + 𝑭𝒚 + 𝑬 = 𝟎, where D,E and F are real numbers.

1. Express perfect square trinomial into square of a binomial.

2. Write equation of a circle in form (𝒙 − 𝒉) ² + (𝒚 − 𝒌) ² = 𝒓 ²
C. Pre-requisite Skills
Where (h,k) is the center and r is the radius of the circle.
