1, A) To prepare a Pareto analysis, we need to arrange the success factors in

descending order of frequency and calculate the cumulative percentage.

Success Factor Number of Occurrences Cumulative
Percentage

Leadership 50 34.48%
Creativity 45 63.79%

Presentation Skills 41 86.21%

EQ Score 38 100%

IQ Score 25
Education 22

Experience 18

B) The Pareto analysis reveals that the top three factors, leadership, creativity, and
presentation skills, make up more than 80% of the reasons why the entrepreneurs
believe they were successful. In contrast, the bottom four factors, experience,
education, IQ score, and EQ score, make up only a small fraction of the total. This
suggests that while experience, education, and cognitive abilities may be important,
soft skills like leadership, creativity, and presentation skills

3. Cp=(1945-1297)/6*81 =1.33 i.e the process is capable of producing sufficient parts

for specification

Cpk=min. ((1459-1297)/3*81 , (1945-1459)/3*81) = min(0,67 ,2) =0.67 since Cpk is

lower than 1 means the process mean is off centre. It has shifted towards lower
control limits it will generate defects and company needs to take corrective actions to
meet target.

2. Calculate the average (X-Bar) and range (R) for each subgroup.

X-bar and range chart formulas

X-bar control limits are based on either range or sigma, depending on which chart it is
paired with. When the X-bar chart is paired with a range chart, the most common (and
recommended) method of computing control limits based on 3 standard deviations is:
X-bar

n is the number of observations

k is the number of subgroups
Upper control limit: Lower control limit:

Range

k is the number of subgroups.

Upper control limit: Lower control limit:

Based on the above data

Sample Sample Mean Range

1 49.998 0.017
2 50.001 0.011
3 50.025 0.025
4 50.121 0.005
5 50.012 0.001
6 49.953 0.004
7 49.999 0.007
8 50.002 0.022
9 50.007 0.001
10 49.099 0.014
Grand mean 49.9217
Range mean 0.0107

Here sample size of n = 10

values of A2, D2, D3, and D4 as follows

Subgroup Size A2 D2 D3 D4
2 1.88 1.128 3.268
3 1.023 1.693 2.574
4 0.729 2.059 2.282
5 0.577 2.326 2.114
6 0.483 2.534 2.004
7 0.419 2.704 0.076 1.924
8 0.373 2.847 0.136 1.864
9 0.337 2.97 0.184 1.816
10 0.308 3.078 0.223 1.777

The following are the calculations of upper and lower control limits and overall mean
X-bar chart

Upper Control Limit

= 49.9217 + 0.308 * 0.0107 = 49.925

Lower Control Limit

= 49.9217 - 0.308 * 0.0107 = 49.9184

overall mean (grand mean) = 49.9217

The following are the calculations of upper and lower control limits R chart

Upper Control Limit

=0.0107 * 1.777 = 0.019

Lower Control Limit

= 0.0107 *0.223 = 0.0024

R-bar (R mean) = 0.011
