Mandatory military service is a contentious issue that has both benefits and drawbacks. While it could save the government money and instill discipline and patriotism in youth, it may also negatively impact individuals' earnings. Supporters argue it promotes equality, national unity, and defense capabilities, while opponents counter that compulsory military training infringes on personal freedoms. Overall, there are reasonable arguments on both sides of whether Philippines should implement mandatory military service.

MANDATORY MILITARY SERVICE: SHOULD IT BE NECESSARY?

Military conscription, often known as mandatory military service, is a tactic

adopted by countries to establish a big and powerful military that can be deployed in
times of conflict or to safeguard the state's sovereignty. All citizens of the Philippines
must serve in the military, and the President of the Philippines must define the
techniques and procedures for classification, selection, examination, induction,
training, employment, and release of all people from their military responsibilities.
Mandatory military duty is a contentious issue, with numerous religious and political
concerns stated. This raises the question of whether compulsory conscription is a
good or bad idea.

Compulsory service would save money for the government while also benefiting
all citizens. National service programs have been shown to be a cost-effective way to
address the country's vital requirements. Young individuals who are conscripted to
military service receive the following benefits: The pride of defending the homeland.
The contribution to international peace. Participation in the growth of his country's
efforts. For young men who already had a criminal record before they enrolled in the
military, it minimizes criminal activity both during and after their service. However,
this favorable benefit comes at a cost: young men who serve in the military appear to
earn less thereafter than comparable young men who do not serve.

Mandatory military duty for Filipinos will assist to instill patriotism in citizens
and encourage them to participate in nation-building initiatives. Compulsory military
training can make people physically and emotionally stronger. It promotes equality
because people of all socioeconomic classes will receive the same training. In such
instances, mandatory military training is beneficial. People are capable of defending
themselves as well as defending those who are in need. Compulsory military duty
could instill in our youth discipline and a strong feeling of patriotism. Military
training isn't always tied to fighting or war mentality; it's more about "service to the
nation." As a result, this type of service is a strong social-impact investment.

National service would promote unity and bring people from all walks of life
together. Compulsory service would save money for the government while also
benefiting all citizens. National service would aid in the maturation of young people
and serve as a bridge to adulthood. Men and women should receive basic training
together in order to form a cohesive unit, boost productivity, and remove division.
First, men and women must be trained together during basic training in order to form
a cohesive unit.

Military duty will empower them to defend themselves against any imagined
threat in a society where crime and violence are frequent. This would not only keep
them safe, but it would also keep the rest of society and the people in their immediate
vicinity safe. Military service can also help to create national unity in a variety of
ways.
