IV. Background/Rationale
The main purpose of education is to create skills, grasp knowledge and spread awareness about our glorious national heritage. The values enshrined in our constitutions lay stress on attaining a basic scientific outlook and commitment to the ideals of patriotism, democracy, secularism, socialism, and peace.
In this era of rapid globalization and modernization, people have become the victims of materialistic desires and attitudes leading to a loss of basic values. The same shift is being observed in the teaching community also. As teacher educators are preparing teachers of tomorrow there is a need for them to demonstrate professional ethics to inculcate values in society at large. This code of professional ethics may be defined as a set of self-imposed professional ideals and principles necessary for the attainment of professional excellence and self-satisfaction. A code of professional ethics is generally based on two principles; professional integrity and ideals of service to society.
As a learning institution that supports the Department of Education’s response to
R.A. 7836, the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers ensures the practice of the noble profession with dignity and reputation with high moral values, as well as technical and professional competence in all public and private educational institutions, TLE/TVL

The teaching-learning process plays an important role in the educational system.
This Friday’s LAC Session aims to capacitate teachers to demonstrate understanding of the key provisions of the code of ethics and become familiar with the responsibilities of a professional teacher.
V. Objectives: At the end of the activity, the participants are expected to:
