parallelograms and triangle similarity. Quarter 3rd
(9:00-10:00)
B. PerformanceDate
LOG and
Standard The learner is able to investigate, analyse, and solve problems
Time involving parallelograms and triangle similarity through
appropriate and accurate representation.
C. Learning Competencies/ The learner describes a proportion. (M9GE-IIIf-1)
Objectives The learner solves problems involving proportions applying the
fundamental theorems of proportionality. (M9GE-IIIf-2)
Appreciate the importance of proportion in real life situation.

A. Reviewing previous lesson or ACTIVITY 1: YES OR NO, STAND UP-SIT DOWN
presenting the new lesson Provide questions that are answerable by yes or no which is
(ELICIT) connected to proportion which gave them recall with the
knowledge they have earned in the previous grade about ratio.

Tell the learners that answering “YES” means “STAND UP” and
answering “NO” means “SIT DOWN”.
B. Establishing a purpose for the Have you ever heard water called H 2𝑂?
lesson (ENGAGE)
H 2𝑂 is the molecular formula for water. Water is an oxygen
hydride consisting of two Hydrogen atoms ( H 2 ¿and an oxygen
atom (𝑂). No matter how many molecules of water you have,
hydrogen and oxygen will always be in
the ratio 2 is to 1.

D. Discussing new concepts and Collaborative Activity
practicing new skills # 1 Group Activity 2:
(EXPLORE) Group the class into three. Give them illustration board to write
their answers.

Task 1:
Who loves reading books? (Use this to show and solve problems
involving proportion)

Present the problem.

Laura, who is a good reader, has a big stock of books that she
wants to read 23 books to be precise. She wants to know how
many days it will take to finish if 1 book can be read in 2 days.
How do we figure it out? Will you help Laura find the answer?

Apply cross-multiplication (Multiplication Property)

1 x n= 23 x 2
n=46
E. Discussing new concepts and (Continuation of Collaborative Activity)
practicing new skills #2 Task 2:
( EXPLORE) Did you see the picture on the screen?
This is a Filipino delicacy made of
coconut which Filipinos love to make
it “pasalubong” or dish in an
occasion.
Given the table below are the ingredients in making “Buko Pie”
which is good for 8 persons. If you are asked to prepare for 24
persons, how much coconut water is needed?

Measurements Ingredients
1/3 Cornstarch
1/2 Coconut water
1/2 All-purpose flour
3/4 Sugar
4 Young coconut
0.5 x
= 12=8x
8 24
12 8 x
=
8 8
x= 3/2 or 1.5 cup of coconut water

Task 3:
This one involves a map. Have you ever noticed that maps are a lot
smaller than the real-life places that they show? A map is a good
example of scaled drawing.

Guide question: What is scaled drawing? Use this to present

proportion.
F. Developing mastery (Leads to Group Activity 3:
formative assessment 3) The teacher will group the class into two and will give each group
(EXPLAIN) a problem (presented in a balloon) to solve. They need to pop the
balloon to be able to get the problem to solve. The group will
solve and explain how it will become proportion. This task will be
guided by rubrics.

Transition: The group will think of a famous woman in the

history of the Philippines. Then, the group will quote her famous
line. They need to tell it once they are done. This will be the sign
that they are already finished solving the problem.
G. Finding practical applications of Teacher will show a video clip in relation to Proportion.
concepts and skills in daily living Title of Video Clip: (Proportion in Real Application)
(ELABORATE)
Guide Question (Reflection)
How important is proportion in our lives?
Relate proportion in women empowerment.
H. Making generalizations and Let the students summarize the lesson by answering the questions:
abstractions about the lesson  What is proportion?
(ELABORATE)  What are the five properties of proportion?
 How to solve problems that involve proportion?
I. Evaluating Learning Quiz
(EVALUATE) Directions: Find the missing value in each proportion. Write your
answers on separate sheet/s of paper. (5 points each question)
1. Find the value of x in 2: 4 = 8: 𝑥.
12 x
2. 9 = 3
J. Additional activities for Directions: Apply the concepts that you have learned about
application or remediation proportions in solving the following problems. Write your answers
(EXTEND) on separate sheet/s of paper.
1. Edith’s car can travel 12 kilometers on 1 liter of gasoline.
How far can it travel on 5 liters?
2. Eryl ran 3 miles in 30 minutes. At that rate how far would
1
he run in 1 hours?
2
V. REMARKS
VI.REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who earned 80%
on the formative assessment
B. No. of Learners who require
additional activities for
remediation
C. Did the remedial lessons work?
No. of learners who have caught
up with the lesson.
D. No. of learners who continue to
require remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategies
worked well? Why did this work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter
which my principal or supervisor
can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized
materials did I use/discover which
I wish to share with other
teachers?
