In line with the DepEd Memorandum Cl-2022 389, (2022 Pambansang Buwan at
Araw ng Pagbasa, the Communication Arts Guild (CAG) Club and the Kapisanan ng
Tagapagtaguyod ng Filipino (KATAFIL) Club of SNHS conducted different activities
for the National Reading Month Celebration, last November 28, 2022.
The first day, November 21 highlighted the contests for the Grade 7 students in
Spelling Bee and Poster-Slogan making, respectively, the second day, November 22
was for the Grade 8 students who participated in the Photo Essay and Interpretatibong
Pagbasa contests; November 23, 2022 was intended for the Grade 9 students who
contested in Bigbook Making and Madulang Pagkukuwento; The Fourth day,
November 24 was scheduled for the Likhawitan competition of the Grade 10 students;
In the Fifth day, November 25, Grade 11 students compete in the Spoken Word
Poetry contest and Grade 12 Students joined the Vlog Making contest as well as the
‘Ang Aking Sariling Kuwento’; November 28 was intended for the Reader’s Theatre
among grade 11 learners.
The winners of the said contests were Joshua Alexis S. Baraoidan and Ciara Lei
C. Policarpio of Grade 7-STE in Spelling Bee; Grade 7-Mars in Poster-Slogan
Making; 8-Pasteur in ‘Interpretatibong Pagbasa’; Grade 8-STE in Photo Essay; Grade
9-Gold in ‘Madulang Pagkukuwento’ as well as in Bigbook Making; 10-STE students
in Likhawitan; Grade 11-STEM (Rafflesia) in the Reader’s Theatre, likewise, Mary
Joyce G. Ruiz of 11-STEM (Rafflesia) in Spoken Word Poetry; 12-Ruby (TVL) in
Vlog Making and Shanhelle Gaille Clarin of Grade 12-STEM (Diamond) in ‘Ang
Aking Sariling Kuwento’.
Last year’s celebration had the theme “Rediscovering the Legacy of Literature
through Reading” in accordance to the Regional DepEd Memorandum No. 1219 s.
2022. This said activity was implemented to help learners develop love for reading
among learners as well as the whole school and community, which is necessary to
improve and enhance their reading skills, raises awareness of the vital role of reading
and literacy in developing critical thinking in the youth.
