Activity 2

One of the ways to get to know someone is to interview them and talk with them - ask them
questions which cause them to reveal "what makes them tick". The same is true of getting to
know the Bible. Let's interview the Bible and see what it has to say about itself.

1. Often the Bible is called the word of God-Why? ( Exodus 32:16; II Peter 1:21; I Peter 1:10-
12; II Timothy 3:16-17 )
- The Bible contained the words of God, because in Exodus 32:16 it says that "And the tables
were works of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tablets." It is when
Moises and God was talking in the mountain Sinai until Moises came down to the mountain
having the two tables of stone consist the ten commandments written by God itself and gave to
Moises to spread out to his people. Another scripture is II Peter 1:21 telling that the origin of
prophecy is not in the human will but through the prophets from God spoke to them as they
were carried along the Holy Spirit. 2 Timothy 3:16-17, All Scripture is breathed out by God and
profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the
man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. Truly, the Bible consists of the
words of God that will enlighten us about what is good and evil, and about the rules and
promises of God.

2. What adjectives can be use to describe the Bible? ( Psalm 19: 7-11; Hebrews 4:12 )

- The adjectives that can be used to describe the Bible are perfect, refreshing the soul,
trustworthy, making wise the simple, right, giving joy to the heart, radiant, giving light to the
eyes, pure, enduring forever, righteous, more precious than gold, sweeter than honey, alive,
active, sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit,
joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. These adjectives are
according to the words of God itself that were written in the Bible from Psalm 19:7-11 and
Hebrews 4:12.

3. How can the Bible affect people's lives? ( Psalm 119:11; II Timothy 3:16-17; I Peter 1:22- 2:3
)

- The Bible affects people's lives by its words of God itself. Psalms 119:11 "I have hidden your
word in my heart that I might not sin) against you." By reading and hearing the words of God it
gives us wisdom and understanding about things on earth so that we cannot commit sin and
avoid it. II Timothy 3:16-17 "all Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for
reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be
complete, equipped for every good work." The Bible consists of the teachings of our God that
will lift us, will encourage us, will correct us from our wrong doings and the Bible is the way for
us to always be prepared in doing good things that will make our God rejoice in heaven.

4. If the Bible is God's word and it is so important, why can't everyone understand it? ( I
Corinthians 1:18-20, 25; 2:13-15; 3:19 )

- Why can't everyone understand the Bible? I Corinthians 1:18 "for the word of the cross is folly
to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." It is because
some people didn't take the sacrifices of Jesus Christ seriously when he died on the cruz, but for
us who are the people of Jesus, the Bible will give wisdom and salvation to us. In I Corithians
2:13 talking about interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual. While in verse 14-15
talking about, (14) the person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the
Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are
discerned only through the Spirit. (15) The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all
things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments. Words of God with the
Holy Spirit gave wisdom to the people who wholeheartedly believe in God's words and to the
people without the presence of the Holy Spirit are considered them foolishness. Also in I
Corinthian 3:19 is talking about " for the wisdom of the world is foolishness with God." That is
why not everyone can't understand the Bible, because they are deceived by worldly things.

5. The Bible was written at least 2000 years ago or more- can it really be of any importance
today? ( Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 5:18, 24:35; John 17:17 )

- Yes, from the past, today and to the future the words of God will still remained because it is
the most important book that consists of the words of our God almighty( Isaiah 40:8 "The grass
withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever. In Matthew 5:18 "For truly
I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a
pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished." Until heaven
and earth disappear, the bible will stay forever, so read your Bible because it gives teachings,
inspiration, hope and encouragement to all the people who believe in God.

Activity 3

Instruction: Complete sentences as honestly as you can.

1. In this activity, I was able to discover that Hebrew Literature consists of ancient, medieval
and modern periods. I discovered that the Jewish Bible or so called Tanakh consists of three
parts; first we have The Law (Torah), containing the first 5 books of the Old Testament. Next is
The Prophets (Nevi'im), these are the prophets sent by God. Last is The Writings (Ketuvim), it
pertains to a poem, stories, songs, chants and historical books from the Bible. Another
discovery of mine is about the book of Apocrypha that consists of 14 books and also the
differents stories in the Bible that was discussed by the reporters like The origin of the Universe,
the story of Cain and Abel, Jona and the fish, Noah's ark, the parables of Jesus and the book of
Ruth.

2. In the analysis of the Bible, I have learned that the Bible consists of 66 Books and that it was
divided into two, the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament consists of 39
books that contain the creation of the universe, the prophets, the history of patriarchs and
many more. On the other hand, The New Testament consists of 27 books containing the
biographies of the Gospel, Church History, twenty one Epistles and Apocalypse. Every book of
the Bible has a different purpose and teachings. The Bible contains the words of God that
tackled about his Goodness, about Jesus Christ his son that saves us, about how God really
loves us, how God wants us to do good things and depart from evil. The Bible will give us
teachings, learnings, hopes, advice, encouragement, lightness and motivations for our everyday
life as we continue to serve him.

3. I have found out that the book of Apocrypha is a collection of 14 books which were included
in Greek and Latin version of Old Testament but we're not considered by the Palestinian
because it consists of unbiblical teachings, false doctrine and writings of human and not our
God, therefore the book of Apocrypha are no authority in the church of God and not belong to
the Bible.

IV. Assessment

Instructions: Read the following bible scriptures and explain what it wants to convey. Write
your answer in a paragraph with at least 12 sentences. Scoring criteria are presented below for
your guide in constructing your answer.

Jeremiah 29:13

John 6:44-45

Deuteronomy 4:29

John 8:31
Matthew 7:7-8

Acts 4:12

I Timothy 2:5-6

As I read these bible verses or scriptures, the main message that it wants to convey is that there
is a powerful God who sent his begotten son Jesus Christ for the world, he died on the cruz to
give us a chance to have an everlasting. Accept him as our Lord and saviour, believe in his
words and seek him with all our heart and soul and surely you will find him. It says in Jeremiah
29:13 if we seek God, we will find him meaning God is always with us the only one that we need
to do is to seek him and surely we will find him. If there is God in our lives, every problem and
struggles we're just like nothing because we have a great God who helps us through our ups
and downs. In the second scriptures John 6:44-45, it tells us that the only way to have an
everlasting life which is in heaven is through Jesus Christ, the son of God. It is clearly seen that
those who will be raised up at the last day—all true believers—are given to Christ by the Father.
And only those whom the Father gives to Christ can come to Him. Deuteronomy 4:29 say's that
you will find God if you seek him with all your heart and soul. If you are truly faithful to God
there is no reason that you will not find him. Another scripture is John 8:31 Jesus said that if
you abide by my words you are truly my disciples and you find the truth and the truth will set
you free. Abiding God and his commandments is showing our faithfulness to him. The next
verse is Matthew 7:7-8, ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock the door
and it will open for you. Talk with God through our prayers and surely he is listening to what we
are asking for, just have a strong humility because that's what God wants to his childrens. Acts
4:12, there is salvation in no one else but only Jesus Christ whom God gave us to save us. Jesus
Christ is the only way to have an everlasting life like what God said in John 3:16. 1 Timothy 2:5,
KJV: "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;".
Mediator refers to an impartial person who acts between two others who are at variance in
order to reconcile them. The God the Father, the God the Son and the Holy Spirit are working as
one God.
