Subject: Transport

In response to your memo sent on February 10 that stated the need for research on

exporting goods on international trade, I have researched the available transport routes. This was

after our company contacted potential buyers who needed details associated with shipping. The

memo includes details of the state where the goods are coming from, the destination to a foreign

country, an estimation of charges for the goods, the shipping lines that could be used between the

two countries, and a test to determine traffic around different ports. Additionally, images are

presented to show the statistical data explained in the memo to show details of the exportation

process accurately.

The first country I wish to recommend is China, with the nearest Port being the Port of

Tianjin. China is a major trading partner with the US, and the large population provides a good

market for US products. Additionally, transporting goods to China is easy due to the existence of

the bilateral trading partnership. On occasions when a company needs to export a 40’ (40’ by 40’

by 40’) standard Full Load Container weighing 5000kilograms from Indiana Harbor in Indiana

State to a port near Beijing City in China, precisely Port of Tianjin, the freight will take about

thirty-one to fifty-five days to be delivered by sea. Additionally, the charges to be incurred will

be about $404 to $490 (Freightos, 2021). According to the Landed Cost Calculator located on the

Freightos website, the estimates are below.

The shipping lines that could be used between the Indiana Harbour and the Port of

Tianjin in China in approximately two weeks, as indicated by the Searates website, are the MSC

and ZIM. ZIM is an international integrated shipping line that offers shipping services for cargo

transportation. It is a leading carrier for containers globally. On the other hand, MSC

( Mediterranean Shipping Company) is a leading global shipping company, also offering

integrated services for container transportation and logistic solutions. The information was

acquired from the company’s websites indicated by the links below.

To pick goods from the Tianjin Port in China, an importer can use the Kaijken Logistics

Group (KLG) and Intermax (ITM), secure and bonded warehouses that provide services in

warehousing, freight forwarding, supply chain management, among other solutions. An importer

can make contact with the warehouse using the following address; room 2102, No.568 Hengfeng

Rd, Shanghai, China

The second country I wish to recommend is Tanzania. The current expansion of seaport

in Dar es Salaam has made Tanzania a connecting sea route to the larger East and Central Africa

region. With exports from the US to Africa increasing, Tanzania is best suited due to the ease of
doing business. To make shipment from Indiana Harbor to Port of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania for

the same FCL goods via sea takes about thirty-five to fifty-seven days and charges of about $320

to $529 (Freightos, 2021). The details are as per the image clip shown below;

The MSC shipping line can be used for shipping because it is a global company. The

second shipping company is the MAERSK shipping company, a global integrated logistic firm

for transporting containers. The following is a link to their website

https://www.maersk.com/about. Picking points for goods is the Tabata warehouse which is

secured and bonded and is operated by the Bollore Ports. The Bollore transports and logistics can

be contacted via the following means: Address: Plot 27/1-2-3, Nelson Mandela Road Dar Es

Salaam Tanzania, or Phone: +255-222401016.

From the above information, I believe that our esteemed customers will have enough

knowledge on shipping and choose our company to provide the needed services. The shipping

lines are well-established companies with influence across the continents. Also, the freight

charges are highly competitive and are among the best in the market.
