(ii) Suppose the bulb drawn in (i) is not defective and it is not replaced. Now one bulb is drawn at
random from the rest. What is the probability that this bulb is not defective?

To warn ships for underwater rocks, a lighthouse spreads a red coloured light over a sector of angle 80°
to a distance of 16.5 Km. Find the area of the sea over which the ships are warned.

Q15. Water in a canal, 6 m wide and 1.5 m deep, is flowing with a speed of 10 km per hour. How much area
will it irrigate in 30 minutes, if 8 cm of standing water is needed ?
OR
The slant height of a frustum of a cone is 4 cm and the perimeters (circumference) of its circular ends are
18 cm and 6 cm. Find the curve surface area of the frustum.

Q16. A train travels a distance of 480 km at a uniform speed. If the speed had been 8 km/h less, then it would
have taken 3 hours more to cover the same distance. Find the speed of the train.
OR
Find the roots of the given quadratic equation, if they exist, by the method of completing the square.

Q17. Find the area of the triangle formed by joining the mid points of the sides of the triangle whose vertices are
(0, - 1), (2, 1) and (0 , 3). Find the ratio of this area to the area of the given triangle.
Q18. State and prove basic proportionality theorem .

In an equilateral triangle, prove that three times the square of one side is equal to four times the square of
one of its altitudes.
Q19. A straight highway leads to the foot of a tower. A man standing at the top of the tower observes a car at an
angle of depression of 30°, which is approaching the foot of the tower with a uniform speed. Six seconds
later the angle of depression of the car is found to be 60°. Find the time taken by the car to reach the foot of
the tower from this point.
Q20. Draw a line segment of length 7cm and divide it in the ratio 3:4. Measure the two parts.
OR
Draw a pair of tangents to a circle of radius 5cm which are inclined to each other at an angle of 600.
Q21. The distribution below gives the weight of 30 students of a class. Find the median weight of the students.
