ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

As I lay the final touches to this work, I feel an overwhelming


gratitude for the chief architect, my teacher and my guide. Prof.
(Dr.)Deba Prasad Mohanty, M.D., Professor, Department of
Anaesthesiology, M.K.C.G. Medical College. He has shown the way at
each step of this work and has gently but deliberately corrected me when
I had been wrong. His presence has always been a source of inspiration
and courage for me. I shall be eternally thankful and indebted for his
invaluable guidance, supervision and participation in bringing this work
to a completion and for teaching me the art of community medicine. He
has been like a parent to me through out.

I would like to acknowledge the contribution and immense


support towards this work by the Prof. and HOD Dr. Basant Kumar
Pradhan, M.D, Department of Anaesthesiology, M.K.C.G. Medical
College.

I acknowledge my heartiest gratitude and thanks to Dr. Shree


Nanda, Associate Professor. who has been helping me at every turn in
this endeavour. I have learnt a lot in this subject from her teaching and
expertise.

I am thankful to Dr. Debendra Nath Sharma, Associate


Professor who has helped me a lot in my study.

I am very much grateful to Dr. Pravati Rani Mishra , Associate


Professor. who has inspired me to write the thesis in a good manner by
giving me all types of help including facilities from the departmental
library any time I needed.

post-graduation.

I take the opportunity to thank all my colleagues, Dr Madan, Dr

Deepthi, Dr Subhasreethe post graduates of this department who have
helped me a lot at every step in the marking of this study possible.

I am also thankful to Mr. R. K. Raut, Mr. Dora, Mr Chaturbhuja,


Mr. Rinku, Mr. Ajay, Mrs. Swapna the staff of the Department of
Anaesthesiology, MKCG Medical College, who have been a source of
support throughout.

I find me extremely fortunate to have Dr Ranjit Kumar Sahoo
and Dr. Sithun Kumar Patro to have my friends and seniors who
helped me through every thick and thin throughout my PG period.

I find myself lack in words to express my sense of gratitude and


love to my father Mr. Biswanath Sethi, my mother Mrs. Sakuntala
Sethi and my in-laws for their encouragement , moral and emotional
support.

Above all the optimism they instilled in me and their everlasting


blessing provided the impetus to work constantly for my goal.

Our pet, Thor has a special place in letting out all stress during
these tiring times.

I take delight to mention here that like many others, this


challenge, would not have been possible without the constant support,
inspiration and contribution of my wife Dr. Souvana Sethi.

I would like to thank all the participants who were the backbone
of this study and had willingly participated. Without them it is
impossible to even think about the present form of this work. I am
indebted for ever to all persons who helped me and supported me whole
heartedly during the entire study period.

Last but not the least I owe my deepest reverence to my Almighty


God thank for giving me strength, knowledge, ability, will power and
opportunity to undertake this research study and to preserve and
complete it satisfactorily. Without His blessings, this achievement
would not have been possible.
